Media Center Meltdown

LOL would of loved to see him rip up the transcripts. Jenna Fryer has been taking a beating this weekend. Might be deserved or it might not be I dont know but damn.

Sad part is that between Johnson and Kurt....Johnson has the best chance of actually staying in a decent ride next season. Kurt keeps acting like he is he will be out on his ass.

I'm sure within the morning they will be videos of this. Wow I got no idea what's wrong with Kurt.

I will never get the picture of Kenseth on JJ's knee out of my head. I heard the heated confrontation with a reporter for Kurt was him nearly punching Menzer.

She was only doing her job. He was on record making remarks like that, she showed him the record and he had a temper tantrum.

The whole deal with Smoke: It's not a sports writers job to come up with "original questions". It's their job to ask questions -- Smoke's "read my answer from seven weeks ago" crap was bull****. The question was relevant, especially since this was a "do or die" race. What did he expect her to ask, what his favorite character was on Captain Kangaroo?

If Kurt has done to me what he did to Jenna, I would've wadded his ass up. Unprofessional little punk.

Another reason the IndyCar Series is much more friendly than NASCAR.

I know she was just doing her job and trying to get the story. Just seems like maybe she has aggravated the drivers by how shes going about it or something. Im sure they get some dumber questions else where than what she is coming up with. I know she has been covering the sport for awhile.

Tony Stewart is just an ass in general when it comes to reporters. These drivers don't understand the role of the media.

Know the media won't do it. But I would love to see them all get up and leave the room when some of these drivers come in. Look at them and say, "since all we do is ask dumb questions, we decided we just won't ask any" and walk out.

I am not going to go out against the drivers on this one. Reporters can almost always just as bigger asses. They will poke and prod until they get the reaction or answer they want. Plus when they write their stories they will take many many quotes out of context and twist them to get the story they want. I am not saying Fryer is one of them, just saying I can see how easy it could be to hate the reporters.

Some do, not all. Why don't you come out to a race I cover, see what my style is and see how I type quotes from drivers?

Kurt made the remark about getting in Jimmie's head. He denied saying it. Ienna had the transcript. Kurt blew up.

Jimmy Spencer's Busch-whacking skills are needed again.

NASCAR At Richmond: Kurt Busch Has To Be Restrained From Going After Reporter

Sep 10 11:55p by Jay W. Pennell

It started with a simple question to Kurt Busch from NASCAR.com reporter Joe Menzer following two on-camera interviews by ESPN and MRN on pit road at Richmond International Raceway.

“Kurt, can either you or Jimmie win the Chase…” Menzer began to ask.

Before Menzer could finish his thought, Busch cut him off.

“How did I see you were going to come with that? We’re good.” Busch said.

In an attempt to end the interview, Busch turned away and started walking down pit road. Menzer called after him and said the question was legitimate following the multiple incidents with Jimmie Johnson during Saturday night’s race.

At that moment, Busch turned around yelling expletives at Menzer, coming at him as if he wanted to fight. As he called Menzer names and continued to try to get at him, team members from Busch’s Penske Racing team had to physically restrain Busch.

Earlier, Busch called Johnson a “five-time chump” after finishing fifth on Saturday.

what started it all with Menzer. Busch was wrong, but Menzer should have just took his answer and went on. This is what I mean about the media poking to get what they want.

Menzer was doing his job. He started to ask Kurt a question, Kurt got snippy. Menzer stated it was a legitimate question and Kurt's meltdown began and he started to go after him.

Then, in the mandatory media center appearance, Kurt went after him again. As for the deal with Jenna, if you make comments about getting in drivers' heads or make comments about how you're gonna get back at them, then you wreck the guy -- you can't expect that to just be overlooked by the media. Well, in NASCAR you can.

my point was that he knew Kurt was frustrated and kept going on with it. How is it doing your job to keep pushing Kurt? Kurt gave him his answer and tried to walk away. Menzer should have too. Now what kurt did next I do not approve of, but I could see it when he just finished one of the most stressful frustrating races of his career.

That is my point about the media. They can ask their questions and move one, but some that isn't good enough. I'm not putting this all on Menzer, Busch had no right to go at him like that, but Menzer surely did start it.

Has Tony Stewart ever been seen applauding? I think he would to this...

You've never worked in print media, have you? I've only been doing this for five years.

Bob Pockrass

"Kurt Busch enters media center & argued with a reporter (not me), who had asked him on pit road about being able to race JJ clean in Chase."

I think now we can see what pissed Kurt off. He HAS been racing JJ clean, but hard, and made a mistake tonight. JJ has made several "mistakes" over the years with Kurt and was never called on it. The first time it goes the other way, Menzer asks a question like that and then persists.

Kurt has a problem with maturity. He still throws tantrums. Maybe Brad should give him his crayons. Could 2 teammates be more different in their personalities?

I am not surprised, and this isn't the first time, this is Kurt Busch.
The kindest thought I can offer is that maybe he has a mental problem and needs some type of treatment.

If not that, then at least some Jimmy Spencer treatments.

Well...if you ask me I don't think "Kurt is in Jimmies' Head" I think it could be the other way around! lol

Be funny if Hendrick hired Jimmy Spencer this week to be a "pit road consultant" for the 48 team LMAO. Stand with a cigar and wait for the fight to start.

I think it's a well known fact that the media tends to push some drivers into saying things just to get a story out of it. If they have a right to ask a question Stewart has a right to answer it how he sees fit.

Two words that every driver must know...NO COMMENT.

That never does anything. Walking away should be the same thing, but it obviously didn't this time. Can't condone what Busch did, but in this sport, when a driver walks away, you should let him go, not goad him on.

I still want to know if Menzer baited Kurt by asking "Can you race JJ clean in the chase". That's what Bob Pockrass tweeted last night, but he refuses to confirm or deny.

Bob Pockrass

Kurt Busch enters media center & argued with a reporter (not me), who had asked him on pit road about being able to race JJ clean in Chase.

That question is very different from what Menzer 'alludes' to have asked Kurt.

"Johnson was asked if either he or Busch could win the upcoming Chase if they continue to have issues on the track.", then says he had asked Kurt the same thing earlier and Kurt refused to answer.

It's all in the wording of the question, and Jenna Fryer [based on what Menzer told her], Menzer and Bob Pockrass all have different versions. Bob's seems to be the one that makes sense.

The media will do anything to get a story....... don't always beleive the story they print.

Hey hey hey, you guys don't know what you are talking about. Just ask Andy. LOL

I guess he will have to take the whole forum to martinsville to show us how it is done. :D
