Michigan qualifying

I doubt that Goodyear cares about which tire they sell. They are trying to prevent the blistering from causing wrecks.

So Goodyear has an exclusive contract with Nascar...how does stuff like this help their sales?

I just saw the qualifying results.

Congrats to Marcos for his first Sprint Cup Pole.

With the speeds which are being run, I hope that its a fast and safe race.

Cheers guys.

Yes ..congratulations to Marcos , his crew , and car owners . We tend to overlook this achievement from time to time and we shouldn't . Winning a pole has always been a big thing in Nascar and , as fans , we shouldn't let it pass without comment . Thanks Leroy for the reminder.

The latest I've heard about competition caution is one at lap 20, and Pemberton said they are considering another at 40.
Since it's raining at the track, I see trouble.

Does anyone know when - if ever - cup cars have qualified on a different type of tire then they've raced with?

I had to search my archives, but I found a picture.

Where did you run tonight? Some drivers liked it, some didn't. Who'd thought! It slowed them down a bit, about 10 or so mph from pole speeds. Guess Goodyear wanted those tires out of the warehouse, they've been there quite a while.

New Symrna.

I heard the tires where from Charlotte 2006? I wonder if the kept them in Ziplock bags or something?

I find it hard to believe that Goodyear just happen to have 1200 Nascar tires laying around that just happen to be perfect for Michigan. I think they may have been expecting this situation and were prepared for it.

I love New Symrna, till something goes wrong anyway. I can't believe they still had them. They Weren't good six years ago!

They could have made new ones ,but it would have taken two weeks.

Those tires have been sitting around for 6 years. I guess it was now or never.
