mike joy seems to have given up

Talk about magicians, fails and lack of chemistry..this one is pretty awful.

Close. Matt's. Mic.

LMAO

Mike Joy is the gold standard in my opinion. First class, professional, lets the race be the story and doesn't try to be the story as the play by play guy.

But everyone gets old. Mike is still hanging in there but he's not as good as he used to be.

This isn't exactly a fresh take on this board, but I think it's past time to retire DW. He's been out of the car too long, and is just loud and annoying. Too much of a reminder of the old redneck NASCAR stereotype.

Gordon I think is very good. If they got a better third person in there (what the hell happened to Andy Petree?) to go with him and Mike, I think the broadcasts would improve greatly.

One thing I'll say about Bill Weber, he could get me pumped up for a race.

The Daytona 500 intros were sic.

Also, good $$$$ for a clean copy of that epic Daytona 500/NBC music.

Maybe Mike just misses Digger
I miss digger

Ugh, Bill Weber was terrible. To me, he came off as a pompous @ss and that voice...I personally like ralph sheheen, he kills it on Monster Energy Supercross each week and think he could do well at NASCAR Cup races each week.

I hate Ralph Sheheens voice it's just annoying

I thought it was funny, but still odd, how Joy mentioned Corey Lajoie's wreck in "not again/shouldn't be surprised" kind of voice.

Mike Joy also does the Barrett-Jackson auctions and he does a great job there, he is very knowledgeable about cars. I think he is one of the better race announcers, he keeps things going and lets his colleagues do their jobs.
Very knowlegeable,IMO. In the 80's and 90's he did a monthly column in either Circle Track or SCR about building NASCAR model cars ,one of his hobby's, and the articles were fascinating and full of details and technical stuff only someone with extensive knowledge of the cars would know.

I remember Allen and Wally would disagree a bit. Seemed to me he was a little nervous of Wally. Like the bully on the playground. I wish Jenkins was still there. He was # 1 in my book.

Wally seemed like a tool. He was a good commentator, but I never cared for his personality. Something about him rubbed me the wrong way.

Bob Jenkins and the old ESPN crew were the best.

I like Mike Joy. I REALLY like Jeff Gordon in the booth. DW....I don't hate him.

Jeff is good.
I think Brad belongs in the booth when he retires. He's smarter and more self aware than most give him credit for, he's mild, and I think he understands how to be a television personality well

I did accidentally catch Brad when he did xfinity. He was good. Truth be told, I liked most of the Cup drivers who have done xfinity.

Am I the only one who thinks Dale Jarrett does a great job? I enjoy his insights, and he really understands the sport and does a nice job conveying it on the broadcast.

Agreed, I love DJ. I think he would be fantastic as a full-time commentator on race day.

Honestly every Current driver that does xfinity/trucks commentary has done great they're all very insightful

Chase,Brad,Harvick,jr,Gordon

I thoroughly enjoy listening to what he has to say, but I cannot stand him as a broadcaster. I'm not sure if it's his voice or something else. He is better suited to be a pre-race or pit road analyst IMO (Same with Jeff Burton).

I always had an issue with Wally in the booth. He may be a good guy but wasn't a successful driver therefore I didn't find his input that applicable. Gordon is the opposite of that and I think he is great, DW was great but he has been out of the car too long and it has really started to show over the past 5 years.

Mike Joy is was brings it all together IMO.

Agreed - amazing what a difference it makes to have exceptional drivers that have experience in what they are commentating on.

Jeff Gordon, Harvick, Kes > Phil Parson, Mikey, DW

There are exceptions however see Rusty Wallace. :)

Gordon and Dale Jr (when he retires) would make a great team.

Also, Kes, but he's still in the prime of his career.

I always found it odd that people ever questioned Gordon being in the booth with the amount of television experience he had in other ventures. He was made for that gig.

@Zerkfitting here is the original schedule that was released for the Xfinity races this year, still some open slots to be filled. They also added Harvick for the trucks this past weekend but I'm not sure if that was because Phil Parsons couldn't make it or what. Something to keep an eye on though going forward.
