Misc. Sprint/Midget Racing

I really dislike "Xtreme" as branding, sounds chintzy. But WRG involvement will be good for non-winged racing, and I'll probably try to see them at US-36 in April.

yeah a pretty worn out name. Good to see dirt track racing in all forms is alive and well, over 1500 entries for the Tulsa Shootout especialy if you figure all of the teams that didn't go to the show that is a wad of dirt cars. Plenty of opportunities for drivers and fans in all of it. I can see why Nascar is doing some dirt, they have to, that's where many of the fans are.

Got my tickets for my first race of the year, next Saturday night for the Indoor Auto Racing Championship. I've seen them once before at Atlantic Cities Boardwalk Hall. This time I'm heading to Allentown Pa's PPL Center. TQ midgets, slingshot, and champ karts.

That's because dirt is where the exciting racing is at. :D

Wave to the Flo camera. 😎
I'd stay up and watch but I'm getting up early to go to the PA Farm Show and then to see 45 of these bad boys

One of my favorite local drivers Timmy Buckwalter here bought my daughters 1/4 midget helmet off him when she raced briefly.

From Allentown tonight, Ryan Flores picks up the win over Andy Jankowiak. Oddly enough you get more pavement modified guys in these TQ midgets then anything. Only real notable sprint car guy is up and comer around here Briggs Danner.

What's more fun to watch on that track, the midgets or the big block mod lites or whatever they call them?

I prefer the tq midgets. They call those slingshots, not sure what the exact difference is between that and a mod lite is. Slingshots just feel like weird cars to me I've seen them indoors and on dirt, they bounce around way too much on dirt with the small wheels. They seem to be top heavy and want to turn over on nondirt. Heck until it was rained out Bridgeport speedway had them scheduled to run a dirt roval back in November. I think they are popular to run because for a purpose built race car they are pretty cheap coming in at under 9K, here's the company that builds them. https://www.speedwayent.com/copy-of-slingshots

East Bay is a huge track for these 270 micros

You know I never realized Dick Vermeil was Louie Vermeil's son until I saw him at the trade show today with one of his dad's cars

It's so cold at East Bay that after the modified feature the winner said the track was frosting over...and boy can you tell it with the 305 sprint feature that is on now. So slick most of the drivers are just limping around on the low line, leader had pulled out to almost a 3/4 lap lead, only about the top 3 or 4 cars are running off the bottom.

Ya got me. I would keep an eye out for that on Flo. I bet they will show it if it happens.
I mean thats not even half the stuff they have. All Stars will be on if they can catch a break with weather. They are the series title sponsor after all.

A week out from PA sprint season kicking off. Weather hopefully holds out currently some rain towards the end of the week.

Acording to Forbes, women buy 63% of the cars sold and influence more then 85% of car purchases. I heard years ago it was like 55%. Racing is wide open for sharp women racers and it's great to see the OEM's giving them a leg up. It's the only sport I know of where they compete on the same playing field as men. I think it will grow the hell out of motorsport the more women can compete.
