Misc. Sprint/Midget Racing

Ty Gibbs was seen testing a winged sprint car fielded by Chad Boat. Rumor is he may run High Limit at Las Vegas.

Pretty good for the first three races ever in a micro and good camera work. She says they are going to race at Milbridge so maybe more to come from the Beaner girl.

Western Springs has officially closed. Last night was apparently the last meet ever.
Huge crowd turned up on a beautiful afternoon/evening. The track opened in 1929 so it's 96 years old.
The Midget feature and last race of the night was 96 Laps to honor the tracks time in existence. They stopped the racing at lap 47 and gave the pit crew about 10 minutes to walk out onto the track with tires and gas and then 5 minutes to work on the cars then restarted the race.
Pickens won a close one.
Was a great time.... But bittersweet.

Put this here since he's not on a tour, but looks like Jacob Allen is stepping away from driving again...looks like possibly for good.

I don't know what track this is, but that is the stupidest corner I have ever seen, and both of the announcers weren't any better on the stupid spectrum. Damn.

Absolutely stupid wall placement, looking it up it was Salina Highbanks Speedway.

They had one of those steel guardrails you see on the highways at the old Tulsa speedway. The end of it was turned down at the entry of turn three right after the off track opening. The pits were at that end of the track between 3 and 4. A guy I guess his throttle stuck, hit that ramp end of the guardrail, flew over/cleared the top of the 12 foot fence, skipped over the top of a race trailer and went about 50 feet into the tracks boundary fence. He broke an ankle, leg and had back injuries. They didn't fix it.

FYI that the 500 Sprint Car tour opens their season tonight at Anderson. Coverage is carried by Dirtvision.
