NASCAR considering OTT network

Fans choice was fine. A way to add to it would be for them to get off of their asses and sell some advertising. Instead, lets put it behind a paywall, try to squeeze more out of the fans, it so much easier to do. Now when it doesn't do well they can say eh didn't work let's quit all together.

This is also another sign that Comcast / NBC's and NASCAR's ties are only deepening. They wouldn't be taking over OTT stuff if they weren't around for the long haul.

For those of us unfamiliar with Fans Choice, would someone describe what it was and what it did, and what NBC's new ... service? ... will supposedly provide?

Thanks.

Didnt know where to put this so if it needs to be moved please do. So evidently NBC has taken Fans Choice over in 2020 and it will become a pay service. Damn shame, it was a great way to keep up with tracks across the country. I'm sure they will be moving a lot of NASCAR programming to it like practices, quantifying etc...

Probably can't even watch the MAVTV ARCA races on it either I'm guessing.
Not likely. Mav tv already has its own online streaming service LUCAS OIL RACING TV, which shows the mav tv ARCA races live as well as archives them for later viewing.

The ARCA East and West races will probably only have like 12-15 cars. Lucky if the ARCA Challenge races have more than 18.

They're moving all practice and Q sessions to the app? That's terrible if true.

We'll see soon enough if they back off that stance, but from what I've read in their article that is what they plan on doing. I've already noticed they've been cutting practice sessions from broadcast to live stream and many have been noticing and commenting in pre-race thread. Not good for growth or following of the sport going behind a pay wall. I miss speed channel.

Is this an opinion or is there any sources behind this? There's a few that expect to see a bit better of a car count for the races.

Sounds like a bull**** money grab from NASCAR/NBC. Why offer more free content and advertise your product to a new audience when you can just gouge your loyal customers instead?

I suspect new audiences aren't yet interested in P & Q. I also suspect if they do develop an interest, they'll already be heavy users of streaming services and thus used to paying for niche content.

Beats the Good Ol' Days when if you wanted to see P & Q, you had to go to the track.

Trackpass is only for Viewers from the U.S.
Will ARCA East/West and Modifieds be on YouTube for international viewers?
Good question.

I think NASCAR should do that for the international fans considering all of the NASCAR Euro races are posted on YT. I'm not sure, I think they are keeping it exclusively on the trackpass, which sucks for our friends across the way.
