NASCAR wants a show and they're going to get it this weekend.

all but three Diben, Byron, and Johnson are locked into the chase. The gerbils will have their hands full and their mouths open and that is a fact.

Wawa 250 I'd think Wawa when it got into rave sponsorship would do it near home at Dover or Pocono, but I guess they want to hype their expansion in Florida.

Bowyer is in if he finishes 33rd or better. Scenarios for the rest are too complicated for me to do in my head, other than Jones needing to win both stages, the race, and for everyone in front of him to go directly behind the wall.

I'm sure the gerbils will inform us on all of those and continue to pull out the all time hail mary "win and your in" for the rest of them anytime they make a move or even look like they are moving forward. I fully expect Burton to be hyperventilating and babbling incoherently the last ten laps.

Erik Jones won this race a couple years ago. I wouldn't count him out. This race is a crapshoot. Johnson & Byron are both in trouble. DiBenedetto isn't safe either.

Heading out in the morning to stay on the beach for the week, glad we dodged another storm out in the Atlantic. Really gonna miss practice day Thursday, usually spend the whole day out there :(

Should I go? Never been to Daytona and it's a 4.5 hour drive
I lived 45 minutes from Daytona for over 30 years. A big part of going to Daytona is visiting the area and all the pre race activities (especially during the 500). Because it was a short drive I have attended many races there...even was a pit tour guide for about 5 years. If you go you will want seats up high or you will spend most of the time watching on the big screen TVs. It is really cool to see the changes they have made over the past several years from a fan's enjoyment perspective. If you are looking for something to do and have the time and money go for it.

I am not a big fan of watching super speedway races in person. I feel like I enjoy them more and get to see more by watching on TV. I wouldn't hesitate to drive 4.5 hours to Bristol, Martinsville, Darlington or even Atlanta. I personally wouldn't drive that far to go to either Daytona or Talladega unless it involved getting together with family as part of the race weekend.

Thank you sir! Totally agree, Bristol is the best track I believe to attend. It's 500 laps of oh my god. Reminds me of a sprint car race, just overwhelming on action

Nice post. I feel this way about Football games; watching them at home is way better than being at the game. I still try to get to (1) Eagles game a season just for the atmosphere. In contrast nothing can replace watching a live NHL game, especially a playoff game.

I do hope to one day go to and experience the Daytona 500. The only problem is it falls right in the middle of the snowboard season and if im getting on a plane in February im going somewhere cold to ride! haha. My cousin and I have talked about going snowboarding for a week out west and hitting the 500 on the way one....maybe one day!

There are three future WAWA locations in Highlands county Florida my county) that have been made ready to build and all three are on hold indefinitely. I have been in several and wish they would come in and kick Gates butt.
