NASCAR fans offended by Monster Girls

Stupid question from someone who's never been on a motorized two-wheeled vehicle of any kind: what's the significance of her kick-starting it? Is there another way to start one, especially a racing one?

Bonus stupid question for extra points: I assume 450 refers to engine size. Is that considered large, small, or in the middle?

Well, it's just tough to start a bike in tight shorts and whatnot. And you mentioned understanding mechanics and such. Plus it's a pro bike so it's stupidly powerful and definitely harder to start/disengage/smoothly engage the clutch, id imagine.

450 refers to engine size yes, and that would be considered a big bike.

I think the bike below it is a 2-stroke 250 though. Smaller engine, still a badass bike. It was the premier-class bike before the 4-stroke revolution.

So kick starting isn't easy? "It looks like it in the movies!" Smaller engines are easier to start than larger ones?

This is all solely an academic exercise. I don't expect to ever find myself applying this knowledge.
On some motors it isn't, especially when you are not big to begin with as it's mostly about weight. I know I had a 4 wheeler that could kick back and it hurt like a mofo when it did.

I believe both divisions are 4 strokes now. 450 and 250. I think they even integrated the 4 strokes into the old 125 and 250 2 stroke classes when they started racing the 4s?

Correct. The 2-stroke 125 and 250 classes became the 4-stroke 250 and 450 class. You can still race a 125 in 250 and a 250 in 450 classes, but the torque of the 4-stroke puts 2-stroke riders at a terrible disadvantage.

To me the Sprint women looked kind of out of place in their fire suits in VC. Besides these women weren't showing any more than I can see in the mall now, let alone when it gets summertime.

Not surprised. I suggested having trophy girls and girls in shorts and t-shirts selling beer and stuff at a track and was told women needed to be 40+ or be covered from head-to-toe like ISIS or something because young women in "skimpy outfits" would offend older people.

I'm so sick of the radical religious right.
Hey, I'm an old guy and I'm not offended by the way they were dressed.

I used to kick start a finicky 2 stroke 750 CC Kawi H2 back in the day which could be challenging but what a ride!

sh!t, they're more dressed than most girls walking around in general.

An older lady at the track I mentioned always thought girls needed to wear jeans (and not tight jeans) and long sleeve shirts. The same woman would walk around in gym shorts and sleeveless, revealing shirts all the time.

The radical religious right is more hypocritical than any element of society. They want everyone else to dress like this and that but they, themselves, don't adhere to the same standards they expect from the rest of society. Because they're "forgiven".
I don't trust most "church" people.

It seems to be nothing more than shallow, stream of consciousness ramblings from a bunch of knuckleheads on Twitter.

Nothing to see here folks, move along . . .
Twitter is nearly nothing more than a cesspool of basement dwelling trolls.

Must be a slow sports day for usa today sports to report this non-story trash.

I figured the Monster girls would have to offend some people but I really thought it would be younger women who protested the loudest but then I realized there are probably very few young women that watch Nascar.

When it comes to Nascar all I want to see is good racing and Morticia and Pugsly could be hanging out in VL for all I care.

When it comes to beautiful women I will google pics of Natalia Cigliuti, Susan Misner or Pooky Quesnel.

This isn't even a story. Too many "journalists" do nothing more than scour Twitter and use it as there source for "news."

Good read from a few years ago titled "Trust Me, I'm Lying" (Ryan Holiday) describes this in detail. Web clicks dictate the story. People are starting to understand this.

I am so use to seeing grid girls mainly in Sportscars I
did not even think twice about it. Supercross time board
girls dress the same and those event are filled with
kids and teenagers. I don't know, I might just throw a fire
suit on the victory circle camera girl IMO.

I like the monster girls. The Sprint girls were useless and boring,if I wanted to see somebody in a fire suit I'd watch a driver interview.

I knew some folks would whine when I heard the Monster girls would be around ....... I don't care either way ... I watch for the racing

Right here. This thread is proof that some people bitch because they like to bitch--regardless on which side of the fence you are on. Have to add to my list of approved topics....let's see......1) Great racing, 2) TV Ratings, 3) Attendance, and 4) Monster Girls. Got it.

This whole thread reminds me of something that Dale Sr said a long time ago.I wonder if this is monsters intention.

Something about even if they are booing they are talking about you and thats better than not talking about you at all

@kyle18fan could prob give a lo t of insight here as well.

Okay, I'm confused. Is 450cc big, because 750 sounds a lot bigger?

2-stroke, 4-stroke? You mean 2-stroke like 'put oil in the fuel'? How long ago did that change? I assume quite a while back, but I don't know squat about motorcycle engine development, or the racing advantages and disadvantages of either engine style.

500cc and 750cc is old, beastly 2-stroke tech. The new 4-strikes are a lot more efficient and easier on the environment apparently.

Dale was talking to Gordon about Dale's fans booing him.

That might have been the best rivalry in NASCAR. Those two respected the hell out of each other and were good friends, but they both played it up well.

When Earnhardt got out of the car after winning at Indianapolis, the year after Gordon won the inaugural, he proclaimed that he was the first man to win the Brickyard 400. :XXROFL:

somewhere I read that in the late seventies Darrell Waltrip, when he was getting booed by almost the entire grandstand at driver intros , said to a reporter or fellow driver " it's amazing how much noise five people can make " .

Kawasaki made a line of insanely fast ill handling 3 cylinder 2 stroke motorcycles in the late 60's to the mid 70's. I love 2 stroke bikes because of the weight and the violent power band.

So could @BobbyFord he used to race the old beasts at a high level.

? There is humor to be found on this topic. Stop bitching about what you're perceiving as bitching :D
