NASCAR Pick 'Em 2017 - Texas

24th 129 points out of first.....dont k ow which direction I'm going from here haha

It's kinda dangerous using crappy drivers from the outset, but I'm almost to where I can run it out with good picks. They've got to perform though. I finished 3rd last year and I used up my good drivers early.

I can honestly say this is absolutely short term beginners luck.
Sooner or later my Gray Gaulding and Jeffry Earnhardt picks
will need to be made.

Up to third which is pretty cool. And I haven't used a Green/A driver yet. No Larson or Elliott either. However I haven't used a Grey Gaulding, Cole Whitt (think he's a good driver just on a not so good team) , Or Danica Patrick pick yet. Might save those for the luck restrictor plate tracks

Looking at the board you or @aunty dive might be in the best positions overall.

Youse guys are most certainly welcome.

What with the passion for the series that exists on this board I'm only happy to add something to the mix.

The major difference from previous years is that I don't have any skin in the game now.

So I'm thinkin' that over and might possibly figure out a way to take over that 25th player position that just opened up.

I'll keep you posted . . .

So after kicking it around for awhile, I've decided to join the game as the 25th player in order to keep things a bit more interesting for myself while I keep track of the game.

Of course I needed to grant myself a waiver from Rule #6 of the Official Rules (no more than four NO PICKS allowed) as I'll have a NO PICK for each of the first seven races.

As the saying goes, it's good to be King. :D

My chances of winning the game are pretty much non-existent but I've set a goal of moving up to at least 24th place and pulling to within about 100 points of the leader.

BTW, I've revised the look of the standings a bit by replacing the "Average Points Per Race" column with a "Points Behind Leader" column.

The self-awarded waiver. I like it.

You're the Kyle Boosh of pick 'em.

I'm figurin' that the only way I could go Kyle-like to the game's championship would be to institute some kinda Chase playoff into the game.

But that would require a waiver of Official Rule #11, as found in the NASCAR Pick 'Em 2017- Atlanta thread.

That part where the game self-destructs is lookin' kinda scary . . .

I never understood the need for the administrator to abstain. There are a few advantages but overall it isnt much in my opinion. Everyone has the weekly deadline to meet, and picks are public knowledge afterwards.

And it's not like the administrator can predict any better than anyone else anyway.

I once encouraged the previous game manager, @KevinWI, to participate in the game but he thought knowing everyone's picks before he made his would give him an unfair advantage.

I suppose that's true to some degree so I'll do my best to refrain from reading and recording picks until after I've settled on mine.

Not that it's really going to matter much this year any ol' which way . . .

Don’t care when anyone sees my pick.

Let ya know what it is in public. A week from Friday mornin’.
