NASCAR Pick 'Em 2018 - Daytona #1

As the saying goes, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

@westcoast4shr was reminded of that when his pick, Aric Almirola, came damn close to winning the 2018 Daytona 500 before wrecking on the last lap of the race while leading, leaving him with an 11th place finish.

Congrats to @SlicedBread22, whose pick of an "A list" driver (Denny Hamlin) in a restrictor plate race paid off for him as Hamlin, in the FedEx Express sponsored 11 car, delivered a 3rd place finish.

Congrats also to @Conover, @Fordracing7, @MIracingfan, and @Mopardh9 as the only other players to pick drivers that were able to manage a top 20 finish.

The 16 players that had hopes of Danica Patrick doing well in her only scheduled start of the season saw her get collected in a wreck about half-way into the race, resulting in a disappointing 35th place finish for the ol' gal.

But the "Kick in the Butt" award must go to @Blake Hylton, whose "A list" driver pick (Jimmie Johnson) didn't even survive the first segment of the race and finished 38th.

ouch
