The NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series heads out to the Heartland of America this week where the KC Masterpiece 400 will be held Saturday night at Kansas Speedway, located just west of Kansas City, Kansas (which is just west of neighboring Kansas City, Missouri).

Ryan Blaney, driving for Team Penske in the #12 car, is this week's most popular driver, selected by five players. Aric Almirola, Chris Buescher, Michael McDowell, and Martin Truex Jr. were each selected by three players.

Surprisingly, to me anyway, the return of Matt Kenseth to the Cup Series was basically ignored by the players of the game as only @DanicaFreak opted to select him for the Kansas race.
Good luck to all and thanks for participating.

Still do not know how this works...but watch out for Blaney...he will right on top of Harvick's heels.

Kenseth has zero chance out side divine intervention...if nothing catastrophic happens, which is probable, he will be a top 15 by the end.

I held off on Kenseth because I thought about 20 others would pick him.

I stuck with how my picks are set out, so Kenseth or Bayne are interchangeable, unless I see Kenseth runs better then I expect them I will make sure I get him in

The Pick 'Em game is a season long adventure in attempting to pick, for each and every race, one driver that performs well in that race. The catch is that players are only allowed to pick any one particular driver once during the race season.

It's too late to get into the game this year but, God willing, I'll be running it again in the future.

The game rules can be found in the second post of this thread:

Congrats to @Clutch who takes this week's "Highest Finishing Pick" award with his selection of Kevin Harvick, the winner of the KC Masterpiece 400 at Kansas Speedway.

Congrats are also in order for the five other players that picked a top five finishing driver. This week a total of thirteen players picked a driver that finished in the top ten, surpassing last week's total of twelve.

In what seems to be happening on a somewhat regular basis, the player with the best finishing pick of the week also had the most upward movement in the standings. With his pick of the race winner, @Clutch is now knocking on the door of the top ten as he moved up seven spots to 11th place in the standings.

@Blake Hylton continues as the game leader with another impressive pick: Joey Logano challenged for the win and finished third.

The five players that picked Ryan Blaney just missed being presented with the "Wiping Up the Rear" award as Blaney wrecked 20 laps from the finish and finished second from last in 37th place.

David Ragan finished 13th that would have been an amazing value pick for a C driver, don’t think anyone picked him this week

A typo on my part in the last standings post shows @Spotter22 dropping four spots following the second place finish of his pick, Martin Truex Jr., at Kansas.

Actually, he gained four spots after the Kansas race. Furthermore, following the last four races, @Spotter22 has picked up nine positions in the standing, moving from 16th place to 7th.

Piling on the accolades for @Clutch, who had race winner Kevin Harvick at Dover, the man from Down Under has reached 11th place in the standings, recovering nicely after having missed making a pick for the first two races and then having suffered a brain cramp when he selected a driver for the Richmond race that he had previously used.

Meanwhile, @StewartFan is in the midst of a four race slump that has seen his picks finish, on average, in about 33rd place during that span. Hopefully the week off will help get him back on track.

A third of the way through the race season, interesting pick strategies have become apparent. One player, @Mopardh9, has used all of his "A list' drivers in reaching his current position of second place in standings.

Six other players have taken a different route and have held off from using any "A list" drivers though the first 12 races. Of those six players, @Fordracing7 has had the best results and is currently in 13th place in the standings.

One player, @kkfan91, has taken that strategy to somewhat of an extreme and, except for the last race, has used nothing but "C list" drivers.

As the saying goes, it ain't over 'till it's over.
