And unfortunately I missed the Coke 600 and watched Monaco on Monday. Would have been quite a run if I had watched all these races, from 11 am on Sunday to 6 am on Monday almost non-stop.So only 442,000 people in the U.S. watched some part of F1 Monaco, Indy 500, and World 600. I'm frankly surprised it's not more..
I wonder how many watched every lap of those three races PLUS every lap of the MotoGP race at Mugello? @donthaveanickname doesn't count as he's not "in the U.S."
Whats concerning? That NASCAR is going away?I'm afraid to bring up the continued ratings losses, because I'll be accused of wanting to see NASCAR die, or that it's on it's deathbed. Again, that's not the case at all.
But for reference, in 2016 the Sonoma race also on FS1 got 3.9 million viewers. That is a 43% loss of total viewers in 6 years.
Is anybody else besides me concerned about this?
Seems obvious, but the concern is that 43% of people who were interested in watching Cup racing 6 years ago, are not interested today.Whats concerning? That NASCAR is going away?
Doesn't seem obvious to me. A poster pulling numbers out of the sky with no reference to that material source for one sets of an alarm. Really losing 43% viewers in a matter of 6 years isn't an obvious concern? OkayDoesn't seem obvious to me. A poster pulling numbers out of the sky with no reference to that material source for one sets of an alarm. We have been down this road many times newbe
Or they consume it in different ways. The TV numbers mean nothing to me, the only people who its matters too are the Networks and they are pretty happy.Seems obvious, but the concern is that 43% of people who were interested in watching Cup racing 6 years ago, are not interested today.
Concern about what? I'm being serious. Concerned they will no longer cover NASCAR?Why are my "concerns" needing to be in quotation marks. They are genuine concerns.
People can be whatever they want, if they want to be a jackass or disdainful then that is their right to do so I guess, but it speaks louder about them and their inability to have a cordial conversation on the topic then anything else.
My concerns are real, obviously 3 people on this Forum aren't concerned about them like I am, so that's fine.
I've answered this 2 times now.Concern about what? I'm being serious. Concerned they will no longer cover NASCAR?
Simple it's B.S. is why. Picking a figure out of the sky from 6 yesteryears ago without looking at the overall ratings recently that obviously show the numbers are super steady almost guaranteed is money to the networks who are paying the bills.Really losing 43% viewers in a matter of 6 years isn't an obvious concern? Okay
Okay, here are the ratings from 2016. https://www.jayski.com/2016-nascar-tv-ratings/#:~:text=The Nov.,over 2014's presentation on ESPN.
Every rating in there is cited and sourced
"We" have not been down this road many times at all. Maybe you and the other ultra defensive posters have been down this road before with other members, but "we" have not.

There are lots of people here who will be happy to have a cordial conversation with you about your ratings and other concerns. Why are my "concerns" needing to be in quotation marks. They are genuine concerns.

You might be better served to go over to the Indycar thread with your concerns. Penske's attempts to pull them out of the hole they were in is way more interestingOkay, well I'm glad you aren't concerned.
4 more road races on the cup side, they average pretty steady in the high 1's low 2's. It will be interesting to see if the road courses rise or fall with more of them in the schedule.Road course fatigue is real, I think. They never drew well on TV to begin with but now that there’s a solid bunch of them any one in particular isn’t as much of a must-see. Especially Sonoma.
Yea I know Indycar has it's own problems. This year Indy 500 ratings were horrendous for example. You might be better served to go over to the Indycar thread with your concerns. Penske's attempts to pull them out of the hole they were in is way more interesting
There isn't one for me or you for that matter. You or I have no bearing on racing viewership or lack of. What is a problem are concerned people trying to convince everybody that auto racing is going down the tubes when it isn't while in a racing forum. There were a couple of three who aren't around anymore going down that path.if so, what is your threshold.
Where have I tried to convince everybody that auto racing is going down the tubes? I'm primarily concerned about NASCAR Cup, but Indycar isn't the strongest either unfortunately. F1 is seeing great viewership increases in the last 3 years. There isn't one for me or you for that matter. You or I have no bearing on racing viewership or lack of. The old what made humpty fall of the wall story lol. Keep working it.If I ran a business and saw that 43% less people from 6 years ago are watching/buying what I'm trying to sell, that'd be a cause for concern.
Congrats on again missing or ignoring the vast majority of what my post said. Keep ignoring it.The old what made humpty fall of the wall story lol. Keep working it.
Thanks we're here all week.Congrats on again missing or ignoring the vast majority of what my post said. Keep ignoring it.
based off how many posts you've made since 2013, I'd say that you basically live here. So that's a given you'd be here all week. Thanks we're here all week.

Thanks for confirming you aren't capable of a good cordial or rational discussion. At least now I know that.
You keep saying you are concerned but I still dont know about what? Are you gonna miss a check? Bankruptcy?Where have I tried to convince everybody that auto racing is going down the tubes? I'm primarily concerned about NASCAR Cup, but Indycar isn't the strongest either unfortunately. F1 is seeing great viewership increases in the last 3 years.
I have expressed concerns about viewership that are rooted in facts. You don't have to be concerned and clearly aren't, so good for you.
What is a problem are super defensive people like you that are looking more for a fight or an argument then a good discussion. You view me pointing out facts as me throwing a punch when I'm not. I'm seeing bad trends and thought a healthy and rational discussion could come from it. Apparently not, which is a shame.
If I ran a business and saw that 43% less people from 6 years ago are watching/buying what I'm trying to sell, that'd be a cause for concern. If you ran that same business, you apparently wouldn't be concerned so that's your right.
I've answered the what, 3 separate times now. You can either address what I said in those and tell me why you aren't concerned, or you can continue to play dumb. It's your choice. You keep saying you are concerned but I still dont know about what? Are you gonna miss a check? Bankruptcy?
The IndyCar race at Road America was up 25% over last year.Road course fatigue is real, I think.
You've said three times that you're concerned the numbers are down. You haven't yet said WHY this is troubling you or should be bothering the rest of us. If the TV networks are happy, what's the problem?I've answered the what, 3 separate times now.
