Looking for things that you could not bare to watch. Things that were so bad, it just makes you laugh. With DW sure to be popular in this thread, lets reminisce on some of these moments.

I'll stay away from Darrel here, and offer you 3 of mine.

-Digger & Friends cartoon. It's Sunday afternoon, you got the guys over, having some beers, getting ready for the race and its the debut of Digger on the FOX prerace show. Talk about embarrassing.

- Sadler/Hammond. Sadler took a stagedive on Trackside, only thing is, no one caught him... And on another episode, Sadler and Hammond were playing baseball --who knows why-- and one had pegged the other in the head with a fastball. Both were pure gold in all the wrong ways

- The 1st Bud Shootout Selection Show. Kenny Wallace provided an hours worth of cringe after cringe here. Absolutely awful. I know they had more, and If Kenny was the host..im sure it was more of the same.

What are some of your moments?

when certain drivers come up on certain other drivers in lap traffic, pit walk (every second of it and even minutes leading up to it) and most all Nascar commercials......and I'm sure most of the other ones posted in this thread

Everytime they start yapping that the race is in overtime. Technically correct but still BS.
An overtime game (and the copied term is not coincidental) means we were tied at the end of regulation in football, in many cases an instant classic. An OT race is a usually a cheap late race debris caution, or more precisely an artificial insemination to produce a close finish.

The calling an "Audible" term is a cheap rip off too.

The Poison Oak incident.

The Kurt Busch Snow Angel.

I had to shower and launder everything I had been wearing immediately after each of those.

The obnoxious announcing. That includes "trademark slogans" and completely godawful grammar. I don't consider myself a real grammar nazi, but if it's your job to speak in front of a national audience, you should atleast be sort of articulate.

Also, the management. Explaining the goings-on of NASCAR to pretty much everyone in my life has been quite the chore the past 12 or so years. Gimmick after gimmick after gimmick. Now conversations go like this:

People: Wait, there's a clock now?
Me: Yeah... Temporarily... Hopefully..
People: Dude, seriously.. When are you going to give that **** up?

NASCAR makes me feel like a heroin addict. THANKS BRIAN.

Afterwards for a true spiritual purification, it is best to lie on the floor nekkid with just you's bestest comfie blanket while watching some Brad Pitt

movies too.

I am a fan no matter what and some of you guys are nitpicking stuff. I do hate when they have celebs who could care less about Nascar. The had Ben Affleck and George W. Bush at the 2004 Daytona 500 and asked them about Arod being traded to Yankees

Grid walks. In particular, the all star race last year when Bryson Byrnes slammed the brief case shut on one of the driver's hands LOL.

Hamlin called Mikey a mental midget a few weeks ago on live TV in the booth, that was cringe worthy but also hilarious.

Freaking boogity BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved it the first time i heard DW say it but twice was enough!!!!! Dear Lord! You make us look stupid for watching!
Yeah, his "Boogity Boogity Boogity, let's go racing for those that paid the ultimate price, boys" nonsense before the 600 was terrible. No better way to honor those who have lost their lives fighting for our country than some half wit screaming "Boogity Boogity Boogity" before a race.

Nascar should convince the Waltrips that they are running a race at the new track in Alaska, fly them up for the "race", steal their luggage, and then leave them. Would eliminate the majority of cringe worthy moments.

I did cringe at that one .

Long was fined a record $200,000 in May 2009 for having an engine that was 0.17 cubic inches over the regulation size during practice for the Sprint Showdown at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Long's engine was 0.17 cubic inches larger because it was worn out.

^ This. It still pisses me off to this day. Most nonsensical BS ever.

Digger was an embarrassment too. Hopefully the clowns who sold Fox on that stupid idea got fired.

LOL they were in turn 1 by the time he spit that one out. Just awful.

Like his driving career, his announcing career has went on far longer than its shelf life. I'd really like to see them move DW into a smaller role on the broadcast. Maybe doing some in depth interviews about the drivers away from the track that could be show on the pre race broadcast or maybe rain delays. I think that DW is an excellent speaker and can be very entertaining. You only need to go out and look at some of the speeches that he's done outside of NASCAR to know what I'm talking about. I just think his days in the booth have come and gone.

Agreed. I'm a huge fan of the guy as a person, he's top notch. I did see the National Prayer Breakfast speech he did and it was excellent.[/USER]

Yep. After listening to him be a shill for Brian and cut off/talk down to any caller on his show I can't stand to listen to him on raceday.
You are correct sir.

That too, but his high pitch screaming on MRN is what bothers me most.

That's the exact speech that I was thinking about when I wrote that. When I heard he was going to speak, I tuned into that that morning to see just how bad he was going to make our community look. I just knew it wasn't going to be good. I couldn't have been more wrong or surprised. He was very good and very well received.

Anybody remember the NASCAR romance novels from a few years back? This was probably the cheesiest bit of merchandising NASCAR has ever done.

Restrictor plates at Loudon where no one passed anybody.
As bad as that was, the sport was suffering a couple huge losses at the time. I guess it was considered a quick band-aid until a better solution could be found. I'm pretty sure that after that, they came up with the brake pressure switch to cut the engine trying to prevent further fatalities. So, maybe it could have been worth the one off bad race? I'm guessing Jeff Burton thought so anyway. It was him that won it, right?
