Nascar Trivia

this was the start of the special paint schemes....Sr's silver car

I'd answer, but I dont think he even cares.;)

Haha oh! I think I've figured it out now... Jeff Gordon, in Charlotte, with the Monte Carlo. :dunce:

Name the three tracks that have hosted both the season opening race and season finale at some point or another in the history of the Cup series.

(Note: Not all of them did it in the same year, i.e. it could have been the site of the opener one year and the final race another).

Atlanta and Rockingham both had their fair share of hosting the season finale but Atlanta only hosted as high as the 3rd race of a season and Rockingham never higher than 2nd on the schedule.

In hindsight, there's realistically probably only one track of the three that the majority of posters would be able to name from memory. So in the interest of not turning it into an internet scavenger hunt we'll call it a win if someone can name at least one.

Edit: Ninja'd, kkfan got it!

Bingo! Riverside, Palm Beach, and Concord are the only three tracks in Cup history that can lay claim to this feat.

Riverside International Raceway hosted the season opening race in 1965 and 1970-81, and the finale in 1963 and 1981-86.

Palm Beach Speedway hosted the opener in 1952-54 and finale in 1952.

Concord Speedway held the opener in 1961 and the finale in 1959.

Sorry,

How many laps did Rick McCray complete in the 1987 Winston Western 500 and what was his finishing position?

Yep more of a how obscure do you want to go in racing reference question

This is a 3 part type question.

How many championships did Richie Evans win?

What was Richies most famous win?

What was Richies nick name?

I thought Richie Evans was a modified driver, are we doing all types of racing now?

RPK, the name of the game is, NASCAR Trivia.

Richie raced in NASCAR modifieds, he is in the NASCAR hall of fame and has been named 1 of the top 50 drivers in NASCAR?
I don't feel my question is out of line in this thread, as my readings of previous questions some have been even more obscure.

Unless the judges of this site call me on it, I feel it is within reason to be a valid question.

Just posting what the OP spelled out in the first post of this thread.....

If there is no interest in playing Nascar Trivia we will let the thread die but lets give it a try. Rules: Questions can only be on Nascar Cup racing. The person that lists the question must confirm the answer of the person quessing correctly before that person lists his question. I will list the first question and make it an easy one.

I guess strike 2 means had better submit a strictly cup qestion.

I will repost 1 today.

Here goes, and yep it is a cup query.

Other than the Daytona beach/road coure, what year, what venue, who won and what make of car was he driving in the first NASCAR road race.

Although muggle not, the thread's o/p, has suggested that multi-part questions be avoided so as to keep the game moving, I'll bite.

1954 / Linden Airport, Linden, New Jersey / Al Keller / Jaguar

Completely correct. You know your stuff.
I feel this should be a game where you must think and it was about only 1 subject, just had to know the full results.
If the questions are too easy the game goes stagnant, and real fans of history tend to get bored.
Make the players think and it is more entertaining.
Thanks for playing along.

Name the driver who won his first Cup race at Richmond after the two drivers - both of whom would later be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame - battling for the lead wrecked each other in the closing laps of the race.

Kyle Petty

CORRECT !!!!

In 1986 Dale Earnhardt and Darrell Waltrip wrecked each other while battling for the lead which allowed Kyle Petty to slip by for his first Cup win.

You're up kkfan . . .

how many races has Kasey Kahne won the pole but not led a lap

Along with Bill France Jr, two Cup drivers participated in the groundbreaking ceremonies at Chicagoland Speedway.

Both were active at the time of the ceremonies and both were later inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Of the two drivers, name the one that never participated in a Cup race at the track.

I'm going to guess Dale Earnhardt as Chicagolands first race was 01

Damn good guess, kkfan.

The other driver involved in the groundbreaking ceremonies (in 1999) was Dale Jarrett.

I thought I had read somewhere that Earnhardt actually did some testing at Chicagoland in late 2000 but I couldn't find a source to back it up.

you're up . . .
