Man..... What's going on out there folks? There seems to be some hostility brewing out there over threads going off topic and the like. People getting reported to the mods and all. Not good stuff IMO. For as long as I've been reading this board I've witnessed topics/threads taking a left or right turn. With the exception of the couple 'stickies' that's been the case. The mods have always done a great job handling that sort of stuff. The NASCAR section of this board will probably meet an early demise should each and everyone of us have to second guess each of our responses. Try to have a good day guys/gals and lighten up a little and keep this a fun place to frequent.

I'm with you all the way, dp. Maybe I got a little heavy-handed and for that I apologize. Just got tired of being messaged about the same thread.

I'll try to do better.

Well said. Most thread topics die off quickly, the various conversations start. I've started many threads that quickly attract 'off topic' posts, and I don't have a problem skimming past what I don't want to read. TRL and other mods pay the price when some can't do that, so.....

Funny how we used to have a bunch of complainers crying about people discussing serious topics. "Let nascar handle it", "why waste your time talking about this". Blah, blah, blah. I guess the control freaks rule.

I'll see you in chit-chat when I don't have my seriass hat on.

FB, I'll do my best to keep the control freaks quiet. I don't like to do things that way.

I admit my attention has not been the best, lately. My hubby's medical problems have probably affected my better judgement.

You're not the problem TRL. Technically, their complaints are valid. It just seems like some people are never happy. When there isn't any big nascar topic to hash and rehash, I have no problem just hanging in chit-chat. I just hope nobody complains that we're talking about nascar in chit-chat when we should be in the nascar forum. lol

This was absolutely no criticism towards anyone so don't take it that way. I only posted this thread because I've enjoyed coming here for years. Lot's of good info here, great people, and the mods are more than forgiving with the masses. When I said lighten up, I'm talking about me and my other board members, not mods.

I'm sorry to hear that, TRL. I'll be think good thoughts for both of you.

I don't think you were heavy handed at all. You're just doing you job. It's a nascar forum, and I'm not going to dig my heels in because I enjoy when conversations flow wherever the flow when there is a chit-chat forum to use.

Thank you DP, I have been trying to think of a way to say something of the sort but I dont have your eloquence or sense of sanity. :D

You are doing a thankless job and very tedious and wearing juggling act all at the same time, no complaints from me about your handling of any of this. None of my "Crazy" posts are directed at you. Thank You for doing an excellent and fair job. Good health to you and your hubby.

If we are going to have a cold war, I will need the Eastern European babe's the Tatiana's, Natasha's, Svetlana's, Victoriana's etc

Personallys I have never knowingly reported anyone on any forum anywhere. Seems childish to me, if I disliked someone's posting I would PM them, and last of all ignore them while avoiding reporting anyone.

But I have accidently hit the report thingy on my droid, these phones are more sophisticated than I am. But TRL any seen from me are inadvertent hits, I will never use the feature (maybe an exception would be made if I expected spamming from some opportunistic new member that isn't here to discuss racing).

Hey, I thought we were buddies. Why are you picking on me? ;)

I think there was a valid point made earlier and that was about someone starting a thread only to have someone else complain that it's a dead horse or picking on some particular driver? The mods control what stays posted - not the members and if people don't care for a certain thread subject, move on.

I've never reported anyone either, but sometimes I get a little ticked when someone begins a nice discussion and quickly it fades to something silly. I've been on this forum for nearly 10 years and have seen people come and go. I've seen people get banned (I was one of them many years ago because I rooted for Jr.) and many were able to come back, though some didn't. The mods here are terrific and as far as I've seen, do the best job of any forum. I understand that keeping a thread on topic is very hard and yes, I've strayed myself. I've seen forums that the mods knock off those who stray off topic, but I don't think that's necessary. There is one thing that recently has begun that I do wish the mods would take care of. The use of extremely vulgar language is not necessary here, or anywhere for that matter. Remember, there are and have been young children who read this forum.

I don't like the overabundance of keyboard warriors who turn every thread they can in to a pissing match. But, it is better to have debate around here (even if it gets out of control sometimes). For example, The Podium is much more tolerable now. Anyone remember when barelypure moderated that section? If you did not agree with him, you were not welcome to post there and he made that crystal clear.

I don't think the moderators should have to micro-manage this forum. We're all adults and we can act like adults.

I believe that. When I started posting here, it seemed like it was a requirement to dislike Junyer.

I posted here for many years until it was intolerable for me to log in and see the little spritzers going nuts, so instead of reporting anybody I asked to be removed from membership (actually it was my wifes membership) then a couple of years ago I started just reading and not posting, liked what I saw and rejoined. Also never reported anyone no matter how obnoxious they were or how much they ragged a particular driver or member. Everybody agreeing is not a part of any forum I have ever seen nor would it be much fun but trying to get along is. Okay Okay This is the End of my seriousness for the rest of the decade. :D

Maybe a mod could start a Hotbox section for the thick skins where we aholes could go to fight and spit on each other. You wouldn't even see the stuff unless you agreed to it and logged on. :D

I haven' t reported any posts , mainly because most of the threads degenerate into sillyness and I wouldn't know where to start . I do think that I will start reporting posts that are vulgar , out of repect to the women who try to participate on this forum . Very few women stay very long with the forum and those who do stay ,don't participate as much as they should . The locker room humor really has no business on a public racing forum.

Me too, I didn't notice any difference either. I love this place, it can be serious and it can be fun and for the most part everyone has a good idea of what they are talking about. I'd rather come here then any other racing board.

Yep. I think it's better now than it used to be. Sometimes, it gets out of hand but the keyboard warriors come and go and are usually forgotten pretty quickly. The forum regulars will always stick around.

Just in case anyone doesn't know what a keyboard warrior is and/or how to spot one:

A Person who, being unable to express his/her anger through physical violence (owning to their physical weakness, lack of bravery and/or conviction in real life), instead manifests said emotions through the text-based medium of the internet, usually in the form of aggressive writing that the Keyboard Warrior would not (for reasons previously mentioned) be able to give form to in real life.

IMO, it's about personal perception as I could be perceived as a keyboard warrior for simply posting that definition instead of going and beating the living crap out of a disabled next door neighbour

Take that back or I will hunt you down and kill your pet rock. :D

Spoken well from the warrior leader.

Or getting your butt kicked by her. :D

This is the fourth time this week you've posted for no other reason than to start a fight.

I don't report posts to moderators, but a lot of people have been banned for much less than the crap you pulled this week.
