Nationwide at Daytona

Terrible terrible race. I hope the Cup race is better though I'll likely be at Franklin County unless Mother Nature decides to sweep the weekend and keep me home four straight nights.

Damn buescher was sold on second since about lap 10

Chris Buescher, not once, but twice decided to block for Bobby Gerhart in the ARCA race at Daytona. In 2011, he had numerous chances to win but he was blocking for Gerhart and kept lifting every time he had a run -- all the way to the end. He even had a run on the last lap entering turn three and backed off. It was the worst ARCA race I've ever seen. Then this year, he was five laps down and went back out solely to block for Gerhart. He kept blocking the other drivers on the lead lap for Gerhart until ARCA threatened to park him.

That's really odd. Maybe it runs in the family...

Exactly, I mean at least make it look good if you don't want to win, and as far back as everyone was he could have made the move and still got second if he didn't win it.

To be fair, that's THE #1 problem with tandem racing. Pack racing is boring as hell but in tandem racing, if you're in the second lane, you're pretty much committed to finishing no better than second. And NASCAR's rule packages that are designed to break up the tandem racing have made it extremely hard to pull the slingshot move.

Well, I was wrong. I guess he was just happy with that 2nd place finish. I mean, can you blame him? Why would you even want to win?!?!

Didn't ya hear? He was committed to his bumper til the finish...even if the 2 had a 20 car length lead over the field

It's amazing. NASCAR spent years trying to break up the pack racing. Then they spend years trying to break up tandem racing.

NASCAR needs to just tear these two tracks down and build short tracks in their place so they can pull those g.d. plates off. Or maybe race on the road course at Daytona while "reconfiguring" Talladega in to a half mile track.

The ESPN guys said that tonight was a fun night? That's the crappy thing about jobs! You can't say how you truly feel.

Not all were race-ending, but he seems to average a big crash every other race. Running mid-pack with a Roush car is nothing to talk about either.

Meh, he's a rookie, I'm willing to cut him some slack considering how new he is to the cars. He didn't come up through ARCA and K&N like others, he's completely green to these cars.

There's a better chance of J.J. Yeley winning the Cup title.

The problem is going 230+ unrestricted is too dangerous but racing in big packs is dangerous too. I wish they could find a compromise. Smaller engines or something.

He's not an official rookie, he ran enough races for RAB and Roush previously to make him ineligible for ROTY.

I don't recall anyone cutting the Indycar drivers any slack about that either. Travis's lack of car control is especially bizarre given his rallying and off-road experience. Sooner or later he'll run out of money or hurt himself again.

Could have done without the first 6 finishers, but looks like Sam gained some points on Regan.

This Nationwide season is showing you can have a close championship without a reset. The top five are separated by 17 points - this is the deepest this series has been in a while.

Yeah the front guys were points racing at the last I think, just trying to make sure they didn't wreck and loose 20, 25 points

Races at these tracks are not compelling in any way. That NASCAR continues to say Daytona is a big deal is crazy.

How can races at your premier track be such a boring mess?
