Nationwide @ Road America Race Thread

good race...great finish !
good ta see brendan finally get a win. a couple more yrs...he won't fit thru window.
chase finally loses cool kat interview image. sorta forgot luck got him up front at end....good experience for him.

Loved the race. Bummed for Alex, he dominated as I expected. Those fresh tires almost got him the W.

I know this will never happen but wouldn't it be great to have several road courses on the schedule? I love ovals but I also some me some road racing. Just think, it would attract more road racing fans and require all drivers to sharpen their skills all around.

There are 36 races in a Sprint Cup schedule, why not have 30 ovals and 6 road courses? or 32 ovals and 4 road courses?

Road America
Watkins Glen
Sonoma
Road Atlanta
Canadian Tire
Circuit of the Americas
Indianapolis

Would still keep the hardcore oval fans happy and also satisfy/attract the road racing fans. NASCAR is all about ovals I know but they put on a show on the road courses too.

Here's to dreaming.

TV ratings will come out and it will be down on viewership. Always seem to work out that way. Most Nascar watchers for whatever reason, lay off the road races. They did the trucks on dirt last year too. Doesn't make any sense.

Eldora was actually the 10th most-watched Truck race ever on SPEED, but otherwise, yeah, you're right. It's really disheartening to see road course races get such poor ratings while the worst form of racing in the sport gets the best.

When they show the view from outside of the carousel (with the "Speedville" sign), you can see where I got drunk that time.
Wouldn't any camera view of Road America see where you got drunk some time? Hehehe.

Anyone see the Continental tire advertisements on the track? Surprised Goodyear didn't say anything.
Road America has a lot of sports car and car club events. I'm sure Continental paid on an annual basis to have the billboards there. But yeah, $$$$ talks and Goodyear probably would raise a stink if/when the Cup races at Road America. There was an article in the Journal-Sentinel where Bruggenthies said that the track is losing money on the Nationwide weekend due to the high sanctioning fees charged by NASCAR but they're basically doing it to show off Road America to NASCAR to lure a Sprint Cup race there. The idea being that a Sprint Cup weekend would make a profit for the track.

LOL @ Elliott whining about someone who isn't going for points racing him hard. He should be a perfect fit for the #24.

I think Dillion said the exact same thing when Elliott turned him and won the race in the trucks. What goes around comes around. :p

I think plate racing still has that "earnhardt" feel to alot of fans.

The truck race only drew a 1.2 rating, 1.4 million viewers, 10th best for a truck race. The truck race wouldn't even show up on that scale shown. A whole bunch of people missed a really good race, just like the road courses.

It is tough to compete with someone who owns the bat, the ball, and the ball park and happens to be your competition. They own the road course Watkins Glenn and just bought oval Iowa. I think they should run the cup cars at Road America, and COTA and Canada, but I am not following the money, just a rabid racing fan. Oh well, one can dream

Which was never an issue when LFR ran and tested Roush chassis and parts and isn't when RCR satellites test and share information with each other.

Kenseth was asked about Penske sucess in qualifying and instead of shrugging his shoulders, saying he didn't know, he gave his opinion.
