Racing I will teach you
Guys, this isn't that hard. Points don't really matter all that much anymore, wins are what counts. Stop looking at points.
Danica for the win and a chase berth
That would be totally awesum. Folks on the forum would be so pissed they would boycott the chase.
NO.Guys, this isn't that hard. Points don't really matter all that much anymore, wins are what counts. Stop looking at points.
I think she has a good chance on these 1.5-2.0 miler's. Her CC is going to make a no tire call one of these races and shes gonna win.
the world will never be the same

Awesome attitude you have, gotta respect you for that. I felt the same way years ago when Davey Allison was racing.!!

except for when they actually will matter...

The emphasis is on creating a Game 7 atmosphere every year at NASCAR Bowl in Homestead. What Braindead France failed to realize is that even the World Series has gone to Game 7 only once in the last eleven years, the NBA Finals three times in nineteen years, and the Stanley Cup Finals seven times in twenty-five years.i'm likin new format....emphasis on winnin.
I'm thinkin' that teams that don't have great expectations of winning a race are looking at the points.
.

If the emphasis were really on winning they would just crown the driver with the most wins at the end of the season as champion. But that won't happen, since someone could still clinch before the finale.
...and Jr. could have won the title with only zero wins. There was no analogy or idea.emphasis on winnin.....ta get into chase.
game 7 atmosphere is guaranteed in this format . ya analogy is only braindead idea i see.

I sure hope so. Lopping off the last ten races and using those as the Chase races was a bad idea, especially since it's hardly representative of the regular season schedule. One good thing may come from this new format. I'm betting we'll see the chase tracks change each year, even Homestead. I asked some media people about the likelihood of chase schedule changes, and they said 'bet on it'. I'm not going to Homestead to see the final race, but Bristol, M'ville, Charlotte, Richmond or Darlington as the last race would be sweet.
What are you on about? The emphasis is clearly on having the championship come down to the finale every year rather than winning, which is what they advertise. I wouldn't have a problem with the most wins throughout the entire season earning the championship, and if we must have a Chase I don't mind that winning almost guarantees a bid. All of the silliness that ensues afterwards - the constant eliminating and resetting - is what irks me.my ole "lyin eyes" i guess ! ha!
all ya'll new chase naysayers should start a "what if " ......"could have " thread .

Yes. Absolutely yes. I love how these guys are going for the win and not holding back.

It's pretty cold in Bristol, M'ville, Charlotte, Richmond and Darlington in November.
As cold as Bristol was on Sunday? It got real windy and cold for about an hour. That's when I hunkered down and closed my eyes. Last fall at M'ville was nice. Saw the VifRL late models, trucks and Cup races.
Do you close yer eyes when the race cars go by
Um, that was my point. Good grief.that's what guarantees 7th game atmosphere.......

Bruton owns both the Bristol and Texas tracks, I wonder how much trouble it would be to swap dates, putting Texas in mid-March and Bristol in mid-April? Might make more sense weather-wise, but there may be logistical reasons why it can't happen. As cold as Bristol was on Sunday? It got real windy and cold for about an hour. Only for you-know-who.
If you are still not convinced that drivers are driving differently this year, just listen to Jeff Burton. (first video at 1:30)

You afraid to see the greatness ??

I was referring to Danica in the pits. Who are you referring to?
The ONLY way a chase format would work properly is if the "playoff" season represented the season as a whole. 3 aero-push tracks, 3 short tracks, 2 intermediate, a plate track & a road course. Brian France still fails to understand.
The way they have it now is completely biased for any driver who excels on 2.5 mile aero-push tracks.
