New Chase Format (Again)

Good point. Seems it would be easy to do if Bruton wanted.
I think I put the link in the random thread but when switching with TX came up as an plan for bristol, the article said that was out because Texas had the same weather as bristol
At this time. :idunno:

The ONLY way a chase format would work properly is if the "playoff" season represented the season as a whole. 3 aero-push tracks, 3 short tracks, 2 intermediate, a plate track & a road course. Brian France still fails to understand.

The way they have it now is completely biased for any driver who excels on 2.5 mile aero-push tracks.

Huh ....that would reward consistancy . All Nascar cares about is wins .

You know darn good and well that you enjoyed seeing her hit a parked car :D

disregard my previous post

I couldn't see her side of pit road and didn't know about it until I got home. I'm happy the 15 crew was already on the left side. That could have been real ugly.

It's hard to imagine they do, other then maybe rain. There is no way travel is anywhere near as treacherous as it is getting over those maintains in the rain and fog. I guess it comes down to which track is easier to dry.

One of the reasons I always record the races I go too, its damn hard to see everything that happens at a live race. Way too many things going on

The threat of rain is most likely why everyone has been going for it this year. Everyone wants to be up front when the rain starts falling. Win and you're probably in. If there is no threat of rain it will be more like last year. All I know is once they get them rolling it's been a mad dash to halfway, and that ain't a bad thing so far.

What do you mean by 'everyone has been going for it '? I've only seen four guys try hard enough to win so far . You mean there are others in the field who are trying too ? That's a novel idea !

We've had ice and snow storms in March here in the past, and it can still be freezing or near freezing some nights. Even though they are surrounded by mountains, I'd say our weather is similar to Bristol's this time of year. However, Fort Worth is more prone to severe storms than Bristol, and severe weather season usually starts here around April (though we did have some strong storms the other day).

Personally, I would rather TMS' spring race remain in April instead of moving to March since I don't like cold weather. ;)

EDIT: Oops, sorry y'all... I got off topic!

The chase sucks more than ever.

Now I'm back on topic...

So, does this new Chase format allow the season's early winners to relax a little while the other non-win teams struggle for results?
Will the teams already guaranteed a Chase berth ease up a bit, mid-season?

I'm sure they all give what they have got, but if they feel sure that the rain is going to shorten the race, then it becomes that much more urgent.

What this does is give parity to the entire field . Very easy to see a Danica or Casey Mears or Trevor Bayne getting a win and making the chase while a Tony Stewart or Jeff Gordon does not.

That's the idea but as we have seen, Jr is still gunning for wins, Harvick may have won bristol if it wasn't for a cut oil line and Brad Keselowski is still competitive. Will have to wait till mid season to see how much experimenting they are putting into chase tracks, or chase-like tracks, because they know they already have a birth.
