Newman/Burton

you all go ahead and live in your fantasy world. In a land in which unwritten contracts..marriage ..guarantee you can't be fired or run off without something in return. but according to you wankers, sports contracts written by lawyers for independent contractors and team owners and sponsors aren't worth the paper they are written on. Labor contracts..nah they don't count..treaties..hail no..we wankers just make stuff up and then try to lie out of it..guess what..that is why we have contracts to keep the parties honest.

Wanker? dude I'm not British, I'm Canadian there's HUGE difference.

Don't get so worked up about it, all I'm saying is there's always an out clause in every contract usually for both parties. In this particular case, if a race team wishes to terminate its driver and hire another one then it can do so. Would there be legal ramifications? Sure, but as Jeffery00 said earlier it just ends in a settlement and both parties go there separate ways in the end.

With 2 different rumors coming out in the last couple days about Burton possibly having a new home next year, I would say that something might very well be brewing.

Kids...they know everything ,don't they . Take it easy old timer ,it ain't worth no coronary .;)

If Tommy Baldwin is able to swing the same technical alliance the FRR has, then that 2 car team suddenly becomes a desirable destination for guys like Montoya or Labonte.I think Bobby might have to take what he can get at this point, but running an RCR car would give him his best chance to compete since he left Gibbs.

contract is just an offer ta perform ........fer consideration.

it's tha failure ta fullfil performance "clauses" in contract that usually voids it.

an performance don't mean just drivin !

tv coverage a' kurt's verbal abuse at dr. punch prolly voided his #2 contract ??

well as long as we are blowing smoke...Kurt thought he was driving junk at Penske..and the reason he wanted out was to find a better avenue to another championship path. Hell, I'm as good at making stuff up as the rest of ya...if ya can't beat em join em right?

love to see RCR get on the same page as HMS with race teams.

So now JTG-Daugherty, Swan, and Tommy Baldwin Racing have all been rumored to potentially ally with RCR. Messy stuff.

rumours= leverage w/ current brand = more factory support next yr. ??

..if you guys would just preface it with "I wish" and click your heels together three times these fairy tales might come true.:)

anyone that thinks kurt's departure from penske was mutual your smoking something. that was a firing. Further the contract also has to be tied to sponsorship. if the sponsor goes to penske and says we are going to quit paying next year if you keep kurt. That gives penske and out to release kurt. since we are talking about burton leaving for an RCR affiliated team. why isn't FRR being mentioned they haven't announced a driver.

RCR is a VERY important team for Chevy, and Chevy is a VERY important partner for RCR...and right now, Chevy is NOT HAPPY at a potential RCR lineup of Burton, Menard and Dillon.

That's all you really need to know to explain anything you might be questioning about this whole ordeal.
Ahh some one that makes sense.

Men like to gossip too, what a shock o_O

Did someone piss in your cornflakes this morning or are you always this ornery ?

Totally agree with you, you didn't have to be in the boardroom at Shell or Penske to see what that was.

Regarding FRR, aren't they considering a manufacturer switch? Maybe that's why they haven't announced anything yet?

I'll say this, if Burton does end up at TBR or Swan and they get RCR equipment and support it should definitely raise the level of their program, maybe not as much as Kurt has for FRR but they won't be as bad as they are now.

They also like to tease and trick pretty girls like Wendy too. They checked with Swan racing, and they didn't know anything about it.

Ton of you asking about Jeff Burton to the 30 w/CAT so I asked Swan Racing GM Bray Pemberton: "We haven't even spoken to Jeff Burton."

Wendy Venturini reported at the end of Fox Sports1's Race Day that the latest rumor in the garage has Ryan Newman on his way to Richard Childress Racing, but only as the third team, with #31-Jeff Burton moving to a "satellite team" for Childress. The #30 Swan Racing team was mention as the team for Burton, possibly with Caterpillar sponsorship. She also stated that David Stremme, current driver of the Swan Racing #30, is a part owner of that team, possibly complicating the deal.

Now, after the hostile takeover of speed, we don't have too many reliable sources for information and communication.

You are starting to get as annoying as Johali.
He/She who lives in a glass house shouldn't sh!t in the cornflakes, translation: you, just like several other posters aren't on here to have fun but to be bossy and right all of the time and don't like to be proven wrong. By the way who were you comparing me to, I couldn't see it.

Fair enough, but I think we all understand that some rumors are just floated out there for disingenuous reasons. Some rumors do turn out to be true though, like Larson to the 42, Kurt to SHR, Martin to sub for Stewart. And that's what makes it interesting to speculate, it happens in all sports, what's wrong with that?

Whether Burton ends up @ Swan is irrelevant, where there's smoke there's fire. Maybe it's true that being a top Chevy team that Childress is getting pressure not to go into next season w/ a lineup of Menard, Dillon and Burton. So, even though it's not cost feasible to start a 4th team, maybe Childress persuades one of the small teams who want his alliance that putting Burton in their seat would go a long way towards securing that alliance?

NEWS: Jeff Burton out at RCR following 2013 season.

Jeff Burton will not return to Richard Childress Racing in 2014, sources close to the organization told ESPN on Wednesday.

Jeff Burton won't return to RCR

Sources say financial concerns played a key role in the decision.

Asked for comment, Burton said only that an announcement about his future will be made at 12:30 pm ET on Wednesday, and a press conference will follow at 1 p.m.

Burton did, however, note that, "I've had no conversations with anyone about 2014, concerning my driving future."

Attempts to contact RCR personnel were not immediately returned.

For weeks, Burton has been the subject of much speculation, as rumors began to swirl in the Sprint Cup garage that Ryan Newman was a candidate for Burton's No. 31 car in 2014. One report earlier this week had Burton leaving RCR and moving to Swan Racing, to drive the No. 30 car.

Swan Racing general manager Bray Pemberton told ESPN on Tuesday that "we haven't even spoken with Jeff Burton."

Burton confirmed he has had "zero discussions" with Swan Racing.

Jeff Burton announces he will not return to the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet team in 2014

WELCOME, N.C. (Sept 4, 2013) -- Jeff Burton, driver of the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet SS for Richard Childress Racing, has announced he will not be driving that car after the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Burton, 46, has driven for RCR since 2005.

The native of South Boston, Va., has won four of his 21 NSCS victories with the team. He also earned seven NASCAR Nationwide Series wins with RCR and was an integral part of their 2007 NNS Owner's Championship.

"I strongly believe in the No. 31 team as to what we can achieve this year, and for the team in seasons to follow," Burton said. "However, the financial realities for next year were obvious to both Richard (Childress) and me. So, we talked about it and both made the decision to make this move for the team's future.

"I would like to thank the dealers, customers and employees of Caterpillar for all we've achieved together. You can't ask for a better and more supportive sponsor than those people, and it's been an honor to wear their black and yellow colors on my uniform."

Caterpillar will continue to sponsor the No. 31 Chevrolet SS.

"Jeff has been a true professional in every sense of the word," said Greg Towles, Cat Racing Program Director. "On behalf of Caterpillar dealers, customers and Cat employees, we thank Jeff for his commitment to the No. 31 team and the Cat Racing program."

A new driver for the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet SS will be named in the future.

"We have been working hard to try and get all the funding in place to have four Sprint Cup teams in 2014," said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. "With the date on the calendar getting closer to 2014, we just couldn't run partially funded teams next year. Knowing what Jeff's plans were in 2015, he and I worked out an agreement for him to step out of the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet after this season. Jeff has been nothing but a professional driver, an asset to RCR and a great person for our organization since coming on board in 2005.

"Jeff has also been a great ambassador for Caterpillar and the other partners we've had on the car throughout the years. I can't thank him and Caterpillar enough for how great they've been as we work through this transition.

"We intend to finish out 2013 in a strong way and I look forward to the possibility of Jeff still being part of RCR in the near future, just not driving the No. 31 car. I have been watching his son, Harrison, and the success he's having. Hopefully, we can have another Burton in one of our cars someday."

There ya go StandOnIt, even though the Swan thing is untrue, the rumors about Newman being in and Burton being out were true. That's what makes it fun.

More relationship news - Jeff Burton breaking up with Richard Childress. He'll move his stuff out soon, but is letting Richard keep the CAT.

But, but, but Burton has a contact for next year...

I guess you're the one living in a fantasy world. Looks like you might need a lesson on what a contract does and doesn't mean in this world.

Jeff Burton: "I decided and agreed to step aside. ... I don't have any plans, contrary to reports. I have not spoken to any teams."

@nascarcasm
Jeff Burton: "I haven't spoken with other teams about next (*ring*)...excuse me, need to take this call...what can I do for you, Mr. Haas?"

contract talk bubba. This ain't burger King or whatever you guys up in Canada have. You don't read.."I" did this or "I" let him go..That should be your first clue..."worked out an agreement" (for an undisclosed sum)

"Knowing what Jeff's plans were in 2015, he and I worked out an agreement for him to step out of the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet after this season."

whew doggies, what is this..gives me a headache it is so far away from what really happened. You must have been flying between Kansas and OZ at this point. :)

I think that if RCR absorbs Swan as a satellite then it could make sense. CAT will be paying the bills to run the Swan car and they'll just be buying everything from RCR so the money will continue to roll in just from a different avenue. Burton still is sponsored by CAT, RCR gets a new driver in Newman who brings some new sponsorship that can be supplemented by pre-existing RCR sponsor dollars. RCR gains a new stream of info with a driver they are familiar with and could potentially offset the loss of the FRR 78 team, if they decide to switch manufacturers

"I still want to race, no question. But PHX will be 1000th start. I'm blessed, man."

Burton on rest of season: "Gonna race my ass off and see what happens"

I just think it's funny that your completely and utterly wrong but you can't admit it. According to you Burton should be driving for RCR next year because he has a contract to do so. The fact of the matter was RCR wanted to go in another direction so both the parties came to an agreement to see that happen. The fact that he had a contract to drive for them next year didn't mean anything in the end.

Oh and the personal jabs? LOL pretty weak, you come off sounding like a bitter old fool. Perhaps it's time you cleaned out the cobwebs in your head and gave it a good shake.

I was speculating on the rumor of Burton switching teams while retaining CAT sponsorship? I don't get your point...oh wait you don't have one. You're merely deflecting your own ingnorance.

Since your such a guru, please enlighten all of us on how it's possible that someone who has a signed contact to drive for RCR in 2014 won't be doing so. You clearly stated that the contract was as good as gold and nothing else mattered.

You're wrong and I'm here to let you know about it because you were oh so quick to dismiss my point of view as non sensical. All I'm hearing from you now is a lot of bluster and hot air. Just hit ignore and you won't have to see my posts anymore, I wouldn't want to talk anymore sense into you.
