Stenhouse was the lone wolf that I rightly predicted would be eliminated.
Mad props to Blaney! He has the been the surprise of the playoffs!
This is the way that I see things going:
Martinsville: Kyle Busch.
Texas: Martin Truex, Jr. (hopefully he finally conquers this track)
Phoenix: I have a hunch that one of the eliminated drivers may sneak a win in here.
Final Four: Martin Truex, Jr., Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick
It's obvious as to why MTJ is there.
KB is in contention, no matter where we go.
BK seems like the kind of driver who can grind out solid performances during tough times. With his recent 'Dega victory, as well as a recent stage victory or two, his chances now look a little better.
Harvick has never, ever
NOT been a force to be reckoned with in the round of eight. He is also capable of churning out solid performances.
Blaney is undoubtedly the big underdog here. He has not had the best of times at M'ville, and Texas is the only place that I can see him putting up a good fight. Phoenix is pretty nondescript for Blaney.
Elliott needs a win. Honestly, I would like to see him win a race before he has to leave the 24. Otherwise, it is likely going to be game over. Some pundits say that Texas is his best shot. However, he really improved at Martinsville last time out, and I see no reason as to why he would not be able to bring the goods at Phoenix.
Seven-time has had a rough time lately. As much as I want to see it happen, I am still questioning whether or not the fire will become alight in the 48 camp this time around. He has strong numbers at every track. Can he add to them throughout the next three weeks? Like Blaney, I really think Texas could be the track for him to prevail.
Hamlin is erratic. My grandmother thinks he is erratic. Denny has the talent, but he seems to stumble whenever he is center-stage.
