NFL 2022-23

Possibly.
If not, despite the rumors that they won't bring him back I expect San Fran to make a run at re-signing Jimmy G.

They have a very solid team all the way around. And he and Purdy both looked better than Lance imo; with Purdy out for all next season after his Tommy John surgery Jimmy would be the safer bet to get them back to the playoffs.

Garoppolo is done in San Fran.

From the article…

Asked whether there was any scenario in which he could see Garoppolo returning to San Francisco in 2023, Shanahan did not mince words.

"No, I don't see any scenario of that," Shanahan said.

Carr family liking Saints posts and tweeting Saints pics. Interesting...

No disrespect at all toward Brian Daboll, but watching the excuseapalooza for why Doug Pederson shouldn't be Coach of the Year is hilarious.

"The Giants were a worse team than the Jaguars and Brian Daboll turned it around."
The Jaguars weren't just a bad team, they were historically bad. They had the second longest losing streak in NFL history, and had a total of four wins over the past two seasons.

"The Jaguars had Trevor Lawrence who was always going to be a great quarterback."
Which is why, midway through the season, much of the NFL media and experts were calling him the biggest draft bust in history and fans (myself included😖, I'll straight up eat this crow) were calling for him to be shipped off for a couple third rounders.

"The Jaguars are objectively more talented with all the free agency signings."
The free agency signings that caused literally THE ENTIRE LEAGUE to lose their collective shiit? The Christian Kirk contract that "broke the NFL" because every GM, every other WR in the NFL, and every "expert" felt he was a terrible wide receiver? The Zay Jones and Evan Engram singings that were also criticized with an equal amount of harshness. The draft choices that many experts criticized?

"Any head coach would've been an improvement over Urban Meyer."
The Jaguars went 1-15 the year prior to that with Doug Marrone as head coach.

"The Jaguars were always favored to win the division. The Giants weren't."
The Jaguars were supposed to go 6-11 and finish third to Indianapolis and Tennessee, who were supposed to win 11+ games each. The Giants were expected to rake in at least seven wins.

"The Giants were the laughingstock of the NFL for the past couple seasons."
Yeah, no. The Jaguars were such a laughingstock that fans went to the games dressed as clowns to protest Shad Khan's ownership and Trent Baalke's management. The Urban Meyer circus was a fiasco of comedic proportions. Every week, it was a new dumbass headline that made the headlines from the Donald Trump presidency look sane and rational.

Again, no disrespect to Brian Daboll and what he's done with the Giants and Daniel Jones. But, we're literally rewriting multiple years of history here to justify NOT giving Coach of the Year to Doug Pederson.

Um, it’s all subjective:

Again, no disrespect toward Daboll. None at all, he deserved consideration for the award. Great guy I'm sure, great coach.

The talking points that were in his favor were even more so in Doug Pederson's favor though. There's A LOT of revisionist history going on right now about the Jags preseason expectations.

THE ENTIRE LEAGUE had a meltdown over Christian Kirk's contract because he was supposedly a scrub. Now they're saying Pederson doesn't deserve credit because Baalke spent money and got great players.

People didn’t think Christian Kirk was a scrub, they were skeptical of his contract terms (at the time) for a guy who hadn’t been a WR1 yet. Hell, even Kirk himself said he was shocked when his agent told him what the Jags’ offer was.

Most sportsbooks had the same win total over/under for the Jags and Giants at 6.5, a couple had Giants at 7. USA Today projection had NYG at 5-12, Jacksonville 6-11. So I don’t really see it being that egregious. The Giants had the #3 SOS in the league too, and with most of the key skill position players not named Barkley injured pretty early in the season.

I'd go back and look at the commentary when Kirk was signed.

It was clear what Trent Baalke was doing with the contract. "Up to $84 million," the whole thing was structured on the hope that Christian Kirk would be "that dude." (SPOILER ALERT: He was That Dude.) And the entire NFL had a complete freakout, one that led to AJ Brown getting the hell out of the division which was fine by me. 😀

It wasn't just the Kirk thing. The Evan Engram deal was universally criticized, as was the Zay Jones deal. Evan Engram was worth every penny, as was Christian Kirk.

To say the Jaguars "had more talent" when the preseason commentary suggested anything but is laughable.

Again, I'm really not taking anything away from Brian Daboll. I'm pointing out all the flaws in the talking points.

I actually thought Dan Campbell should have been COTY. The Lions had about the same turnaround (3-13-1 to 9-8) as the Jaguars (3-14 to 9-8) and the Giants (4-13 to 9-7-1), and the Lions beat both the Jaguars and Giants pretty decisively in the regular season. Had the Lions made the postseason I think he would have won it.

Both Campbell and Pete Carroll should’ve gotten more votes. The Seahawks were supposed to be in tank mode after trading Wilson.

I have no idea how Sean McDermott finished as high as he did.
