OK, I'll admit it.

I'm rooting for Denny Hamlin to win this championship. After so many years of being one of the top contenders, he would've earned it.
How many other drivers won 6 times in one year as a 44 year-old? Dennis has been extremely impressive this year.

A championship doesn't mean that much anymore but it still would be a great way to crown a 20-year Cup series career.

I hope he gets a championship.
If he doesn’t, it doesn’t mean he isn’t one of the greatest to ever drive.
How many in the playoffs this year will get 60+ career wins?

People just do not appreciate how much it takes to win A race. 60 is phenomenal.

Rusty lost his nerve in 2001 when he watched Dale die.

Disagree. Rusty never slowed down. He had five second place finishes in 2022.

He was still really good until the end. The competition just got better when Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, Dale Jr, Kurt Busch and Ryan Newman came along.

It’s ok to disagree. 😊
One win after Dale died.

Mark Martin won five races in 2009 and he was 49 or 50.

Dale Earnhardt was winning races in his upper-40s.
Harv was in his mid 40’s winning races. Harry Gant. Jeff Gordon made it to the the championship race at 43. Long lost of guys that have gotten it done in their 40’s. Props to Denny for still getting it done

I can't wait to get to Phoenix to watch him get his shot.

2022? 😊

Is Denny a great driver? Yes, no doubt about that.
Has Denny been a jerk during his career? Yes, no doubt about that.
Do I want to see Denny win a championship? No, no doubt about that.

That said, if he gets it, it is deserving and proper congratulations will be due.

That’s a statement I will slightly echo, although my level of despise for Hamcrap means I will root for anybody but Hamjerk to win. It will be so glorious seeing him get to the final race and lose. Despite his lies, a championship means everything to him.

Should he happen to win at Phoenix, WITHOUT running cars up into the marbles or outright wrecking people to do it, I will utter a difficult “congratulations”.

60 wins makes your paragraph seem foolish.

A bunch of drivers have won in their mid-40s, Kurt was 43 or 44 and would've won a few more of not for that rear crash structure. Kenseth won his last (quite memorable) race at 45, Harvick won two at 46.

6 race wins at 44 didn't happen often though. Harvick had an amazing 9-win season in 2020 and Mark Martin won 5 races the year he turned 50 but that's all I can think of.

Never said the guy isn’t a winning driver. I’ve said I detest the guy for being a jerk, a narcissist, and wrecking many a driver with intent. My right as a fan to not like him. Also it’s your right as a fan to like him.
I keep waiting for them to find something on the 11 car like they did with Harvick and his cheated up spoiler, or when some teams were caving in the right rear of the roof to get more air to the rear spoiler. This is the second year for yet another new front end for the Yotas. All of a sudden they all have speed?

You keep hoping....and as you continue to ramble about the Toyota front ends, let me remind you that the front ends have been revised to mimic the customer car....unlike the Felon's bunch which mimics a car no longer in production in a STOCK CAR series.....and allow me to remind you how The Felon's bunch capitalized on the a revision that was a result of the first try being complete crap...and then took advantage of the COVID shut down to race that car an extra year.....and you want to babble about front ends and cheating. We are seven races into the Playoffs. WE have won four races and should have been five.....all cars through tech just fine. It must be a miserable existence to watch a sport hoping that something bad happens to a team rather than root for a team to succeed.

Denny Hamlin does more for this sport than any other driver. We have the Most Popular Driver who won't show up in the Netflix series because he is above all of that, but we have Denny who embraces it. Then, we have the podcast that guys like @StandOnIt listen to, but say they don't. Then, we have Denny the owner.....who.....freaking invests in the sport long term. Meanwhile we have guys like Larsony who refer to Cup as his cash cow for dirt. We also have reports that Denny is working harder than any other driver at JGR in the sim. Don't know about you, but I am happy to hook my wagon to a horse that gives a ****. Go Denny!

I believe Denny just had his Darrel Waltrip moment with the win in Vegas. Waltrip was the black hat for years having run in after run in with the sports greats but most people changed their opinions of him after Rusty Wallace spun him out in the All Star race in Charlotte. Sunday, Denny showed people he really is human with his emotional reaction to winning the race obviously brought on by his fathers health issues. I believe he just hit a turning point in his career.

Do you really though?
Yes, I really do. I don't need an antihero to enjoy racing. I'm not one of those fans who defines himself by who he doesn't like. The Denny we saw post-race this weekend is the most relatable one I recall seeing. If he'd given us more of that for the last fifteen years and less trolling and baiting, he'd have sold a lot more shirts and hats and we might not be talking about Elliott as MPD.

I think Denny is who he is, and doesn't care about selling hats and t-shirts....and will even shed a tear if the moment moves him--and he doesn't do it for anybody to relate to him....and never mind that Briscoe says nobody works harder. There is something about that I really like.
