Phoenix Cup

That was a great finish. Lots of racing up front.

I woner if JJ is going to complain.

Congrats to Darian Grubb. Maybe if Tony still had you he may have gotten to the end of this thing. ;)

Darian 1, Tony 0

How could nascar allow a fuel system that craps out if you turn it off? Imagine a consumer car that loses it's mind every time you turn the car off. They probably tried to save 99 cents per unit and left out nvram.

I don't know. I was watching Jr's channel on DirecTV and he was doing the same thing without the same results. I'd guesss we'll be hearing more about this over the days to come.

The strange thing is, nascar has known about this for months and did nothing.

That was aero push remember not Carl.:D

It's never Carl. Brad should have driven through the infield to avoid Carl at Atlanta, and Newman should have hugged the wall. But Carl can ram Hamlin twice at Pocono and nobody says a thing.

I really don't like that 2 faced moron.

I've not heard it mentioned. Maybe I haven't been paying close enough attention?

I guess. It was talked about at testing in terms of running out of gas and needing to reboot the fuel system. Nascar confirmed that's how Mclaren designed the system. Teams reported having trouble starting after turning the system off, but nothing was done. I'm thinking that tuning parameters, which are done with a PC, are stored in volatile memory and get whiped out when power is turned off. Who knows, but nascar knew about the issue.

I would slap a backup battery for memory in the thing, just to be sure.

Really? We never would've guessed.

Newman is pissed, and I don't blame him. The video is clear that Carl had room but didn't back off when he got himself loose and just knocked Newman out of the way. Ryan says he trusted Carl and now Carl wont be able to trust him in the future.

Turns out the EFI uses an old style breaker with a little button that pops out. That's low tech.

I just got home from watching the race at PIR. Lemme 'splain my weekend for you...

We weren't planning on going to this race because money is kinda tight right now. But yesterday a friend of ours offered my wife two free tickets in the grandstands on turn 2. My wife didn't tell me, instead she tells me "We're going to take the dogs up to the mountains tomorrow so make sure you DVR the race." I kind of thought something was up but went along with it anyway. Then late last night she tricks me into "finding" the tickets. Obviously I was stoked.

So this morning on the way to the track my wife calls another friend that we know is a NASCAR fan to ask if she will be at the race (we hadn't talked to this friend in a while...). The friend says... "I'm working at the track today, call me when you get here and I'll give you a tour." We were like, "What? She works at the track now?" We get there, meet up with her, and it's not like she sells hot dogs or beer, no, she has a very important job with an all-access pass to the whole track. Sweet! She gave us a full blown tour before the race and then we hung out with her a while after the race. Was VERY cool. Then she says "If I had know sooner that you were going to come you could have planned on staying in my RV all weekend." She said to plan on it for the next PIR race. All that being said we had a GREAT DAY!

The race was typical PIR. Not that exciting compared to some tracks but a good race fan can find excitement at any race. Was glad to see Harvick challenge for the lead at the end. Good to see Jimmie come back to 4th. I was surprised at the number of engine failures. Was bummed to see Jr running so poorly. He salvaged a 14th but that ain't sayin' much.

Drinking to kill the pain.

It's going to be fun watching Newman wreck Carl. Carl may pump iron, but Ryan is a tank.

Ryan will pick his moment. I was watching Carl's Hotpass channel when he lapped Ryan but Ryan left him lots of room.

Also, JPM was driving like a dick today at times. Shocking.

You

You are a very lucky man!! How nice of your wife to plan that for you

I can't get mine to sit on the couch next to me and watch it. Although she does come out periodically to complain about how many laps are left

Mine will feign interest by every once in a while asking who's winning, but that's about it. But on the bright side, I have a summer-long kitchen pass to travel to all the races I go to, so it all works out.

My wife is every bit as in to NASCAR as I. My wife, son, daughter & I leave in eight days for Bristol. Maybe if you could get your wife to a race you'll have her hooked. Then again, maybe that's not what you want?

Has been tried. She does go the the Chili Bowl every year, but that's mostly because we have close family and friends there. Hasn't hooked her yet.
