Phoenix Cup

I don't like guys messing up the championship. They spend the whole damn year building to the playoff, and some jackass flips when he gets rubbed. Hell, Jeff was bumping guys out of the way all day.

nascar got it right with Kyle, but they blew this one.
I can't wait to see what u say when jeff dumps the two next week.

by comparison this will become a forgotten incident

(jj fans can dream) :)

I do not know why everyone is believing this is simply a Gordon vs Bowyer duel. I bet Hendrick/Gordon's true intention was to ensure that the #48 didn't lose another champion position to the #15.

I'm not a Gordon fan by any means, but I would think he's got a little more integrity than that.

I disagree. I honestly think that Kyle's was more akin to "three strikes and you're out" deal, because his attitude towards other competitiors , and NASCAR was leaning towards "I'm Kyle Busch, they can't do nothin' to me." While I'm not condoning what JG did, it was a complete dick move, it's not like he's a habitual offender, flipping his nose at NASCAR like KB was. Sure, Jeff was bumping guys out of the way all day, but Kyle had been bumping and crashing guys out of the way for months, and then acting smug about it. Kyle needed to be sat down, Jeff doesn't.
Yep

Not everything that happens is part of a Hendrick conspiracy . Sometimes a flat tire is just a flat tire and sometimes Jeff pitching a fit is just Jeff pitching a fit.;)

IMO, habitual offender has nothing to do with it. Screw up a championship, pay the price. It's that simple. I certainly never endorsed nascar's reason for sitting Kyle out. There reason seemed to be 'because it was under yellow'.

This is exactly why messing with the championship shouldn't be tolerated....ever...for any reason, by anybody.

I can't believe all the sheet excuses being made for a wreck for a rub. I'll tell you something else, JG paid Bowyer back at Martinsville by spinning him, and he said so. JG has been racing Bowyer like an ass ever since, and his claim of being run into 5 times is pure BS. I think the teams goal was to take out Bowyer and Brad, and leave the field clear for JJ or Kasey.

I don't recall these elusive 5 times either and it reminds me of when one politician says something about another which isn't true but people believe it just the same because it fits their agenda

Any bets on when the "dead horse" makes it's first appearance ;)

Let it all out Fender, go ahead just let it flow like the river of bullsh!t that it is. Damn pot stirrer. :D Now cue the dead horse again.

Another post based on reason, logic and intelligence. Be careful our you'll be ostracized by the status quo!

Tell me, Matthew, what do you suppose the author of these little gems from the 1st Bristol race was basing them on?
Gordon wants back in the car. The 88 should get the crash cart ready. haha
and
Jr has won 1 race since 2006 so I can see why he feels like he needs to hit people to win. Not worried. He'll get his.:)

Maybe championship contenders should think twice about who they decide to try to wreck.

Agreed. In 2010 and 2011, Kyle Busch got away with A LOT of ****. And each time he got away with something, he got ****ier and decided to go out and do it again. Kyle needed a "Come to Jesus" moment.

NASCAR was searching for a replacement hero, and they were trying to sell Kyle and Carl as the bad guy / good guy. Carl failed as the good guy after Atlanta and Gateway, but Kyle was banging and wrecking people and nascar was making commercials out of it.

Maybe championship contenders should think twice about who they decide to try to wreck.

Joey Logano had some interesting comments that went something like this: 'He disrespected me by involving me in his payback, and it's NOT ok. Now we know how Jeff plays the game, and we're free to play too.'

Like I said Sunday, Jeff may have a very rough start in 2013 with Logano, Almorola and Bowyer gunning for him.

Logano and Almirola will have to keep up with him first.

How many people were caught up in Bowyer's wreck at Martinsville? Drivers don't usually retaliate right away -- they wait until the most opportune time and get them back when it counts. Bowyer rubbed Gordon at Phoenix and Gordon instantly remembered Martinsville and realized that he'd take Bowyer out of the championship if he took him out of the race. Bowyer might think twice before he tries to wreck the entire field on a restart.

Personally, I think it's great racing and great theater. NASCAR's been missing that kind of passion from the drivers for far too long.

Bowyers ACCIDENT came while racing for the win. At the time, I said Jeff should have given him some room, because Gordon wasn't going to win on those old tires anyway. Jeff said so himself a week afer that race.

So, Bowyer takes it 3 wide, and Jeff spins him out for doing it, making Bowyers car the only one that got wrecked.

And you call Jeffs retaliation that wrecked 4 cars 'an opportune time"?

I'm happy the media agrees with me. Jeff acted like a fool over a little rub.

Or they could wait for him to come around to lap them.

If anybody here hasn't seen it, a video package from Speed putting together some in-car radio from Phoenix. Some good lines in there.

At 19 seconds, The lady waving the green flag has her hair blown back, and she gets this look on her face of "I've never had it like that before". I want that feeling.
