Pre-Race: 108th Indianapolis 500

Happy that my first qualifying at the Speedway was one of the most memorable in recent times! WOW... Ericsson in the last row shootout, who had that on their bingo card? Veekay, from in the wall to fast 12 on an end-of-day gamble! Larson is living up to the hype and much more. I certainly was not expecting him to have race winning pace but they he very well could come next Sunday. Watching Legge pound the outside wall and still finish the run full throttle and putting up a still ok lap for how hard she hit was wild!

Tomorrow is going to be hot and slick.

Awesome drama all day today. Even though the entry tops out between 34-36 these days, the format and simply Indy being Indy makes for great TV all weekend. Can’t wait for tomorrow.

Also worth noting... today I chatted up with a gentleman who owns/races one of Cale Yarborough's vintage Indy 500 cars.

I can't lie...I had to Google it. I like to think I know more NASCAR history than 80% of the fan base but I did not know Cale raced in multiple Indianapolis 500s.

he had that one breakthrough season back in 2015 was it? He hasn't done much since.
 
Graham can't take much more of this. I think he needs to settle into running the team.

I think as long as Graham can keep it off the wall he'll be ok. Siegel is so slow it's almost a formality.

Watched a guy do that to Gordon for 400 laps at Richmond one night. Still seems odd to pay that much attention to someone you supposedly dislike.

What is up at Penske? There seems to be some major dysfunction going on from top to bottom ever since that push to pass mishap.
 
Wow. Rahal and Siegel essentially the same pace. If Rahal gets bumped out by Nolan Siegel in his road course backup car....

They shuffled some personnel around with the suspensions given out…pretty curious that they aren’t making those executive decisions atop the timing stand.
 
How are RLL leaving a wheelnut loose on practice runs? Team is unraveling.

Very telling interview from Graham that the team has a lot of problems they can’t solve in a short period of time. Lasers that aren’t measuring ride height properly, mechanical drag has somehow gotten worse since Thursday. Too much sloppiness from a team that’s supposed to be one of the bigger and better-funded in the series.
 
I am rooting for Larson he is a special talent and I realize racing is dangerous, it something every driver had to face.

But it is a little more scary for him in my mind. He is so good at finding the fastest line and I am sure he is going to be fast at Indianapolis. The place is unforgiving and the tolerance for going over the edge is really tight.

I have seen so many that just barely missed the sweet spot on the corner entry and it's almost instantly into the wall. Maybe it is just me but he finds a lot of speed with the high line and he is always fishing.

Still the same I will be rooting for Larson.
Will be rooting for Scott Dixon too, because there is always a chance that Emma is nearby and she is just stunning.
 
Are these guys just that quicker or has the track improved? Massive difference in speeds between the last few guys.
