Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

Tandem racing leads to those types incidents. There is no shortage of video that proves this.

Again, it was a block that caused the wreck. Even someone with bad eyes would know that because Reagan Smith told us what caused it. Your theory seems so depend on last lap passing only happens in tandem racing, therefore tandem racing is the cause. People write jokes about this kind of flawed logic.

Tandem racing leads to that type of blocking. It happens again and again. Just look at the finishes since tandem started. Obviously blocking has always been around but this tandem crap leaves no time for anyone to react because the goddam cars are touching. Hopefully today's incident will bring about the necessary rules changes.

And I say again.... And pack racing doesn't?

Unfortunately it's just one of the dangers of racing and one that's given not a whole lot of thought by many fans. .

True. I've seen Sprint Cars go over catch fences.

NASCAR puts a lot in keeping drivers and fans safe. The catch fences are very well designed and very tall. Look at the catch fence at Daytona when Bodine crashed in 2000 and look at the fence today. It's a night and day comparison and shows NASCAR is just as committed to fan safety as driver safety.

No question as to the efforts to keep drivers and fans safe. But the style of racing at these plate tracks magnifies the chance of something like this happening - IMO.

I'm not saying your full of it:D It definitely adds to it. My point is there's no fence at any racetrack that can keep all parts and debris out. It's a real danger at any track.

But...the laws of physics apply. The greater the speed of an object, the more inertia. A wreck at a half mile, flat oval will never generate enough inertia to send crash debris over or through a 22 foot catch-fence into the crowd.
This is a perfect time for NASCAR to rethink restrictor plate racing.

So the plan is to remove the plate and create more momentum

They reach similar speeds at Atlanta and Texas without plates, if not faster.

And I say again.... And pack racing doesn't?

No one said that pack racing doesn't have problems. No one said that racing is free of danger.

Just break up the tandem so these guys have at least a small bit of space and room to react.

You're reading too much into it. He just said they need to rethink some things. Obviously anything that increases speed isn't an answer.

I've read his many posts about restrictor plates and know exactly what he's saying - even if you don't.

Happy Race Day! I busted out my Daytona, Big One mug for my annual D500 cup of coffee. I hope we have a safe and memorable race today. Here's to ya.

More momentum? Who said anything about removing the plates????
I'm saying remove the plate tracks from the schedule.
Perhaps a reading comprehension course is in your future ;)

Perhaps you could help my comprehension with this statement "I think the "newer" cars are pretty tough. I say reinforce the catch fence and take the plates off of 'em. That's the only fix for plate racing."

nascar could fix the super speedway racing buy changing the spec on cranks and rods so the displacement itself limits speeds. That would lower speeds without creating packs. But wrecks sell tickets, so that will never happen.

I think it would just be a slower pack. The pack is the problem.

The RP limits HP to the point where anyone can reach it, that creates the pack. If the engine had a smaller displacement, we would be using the same formula that keeps packs from forming on 1.5's. Some teams will get more HP out of that displacement than other teams. Whalla, no pack.

Yeah, I don't think NASCAR will come up with a fix anytime soon. Stock car racing is dangerous but pack racing is a recipe for disaster.
I hope today's race will be enjoyable but most of all I hope nobody gets hurt.

That won't happen obviously. But I would like to see them use the road course for Daytona's July date.

I think the large groups of racears running the same speed is the biggest issue at destructor plate tracks. Is that over-stating the obvious?? lol

So 50 cent tweeted that he couldn't find any black people at Daytona today. Makes sense because a black man at a Nascar race sticks out like a talented Kardashian.

I drank twelve beers yesterday. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Jimmie Johnson!!!!!

:partytime

Kyle Busch - engine. Man, what a way for him to start his year. That's got to set a bad tone for his upcoming season and I picked him to win the Cup. o_O WTF was I thinking?
