Some people from the small town 7 miles from me sustained minor injuries in Saturday's Kyle Larson wreck. They were treated and released.

I heard they cant sue SMI
Anyone can sue anyone regardless of what is printed on the ticket. Here's an example of the back of my Bristol ticket. They all say pretty much the same.

Thanks for that DP.

I worked at a tube run. A sledding hill for those who are in the snow.

We had to make them sign a release before letting them on the hill.

Will the NASCAR insurance liability company make fans do the same if someone does sue and gets 300 million dollars?

I don't really know what the outcome of past lawsuits have been against the speedways. Charlotte had fans sue after a pedestrian bridge collapse following the All-Star race a while back. Charlotte also had fans of family members of fans sue following deaths during an IRL race there a while back when debris entered the stands. I don't know that any of these people prevailed in their lawsuits but some where definitely filed.

@Noble_Jim

I agree. It works about the same way for crewmembers restricted area passes. I think it is probably about the same proccess for team owners, drivers, and crew personnel in all of the different racing organisations. In Nhra if you are a crewmember on the list for a restricted area pass then you have to sign a waiver at each race before you will receive your credentials. But a lot of the team owners, drivers, and crew members that also drive the race car haulers will sign a waiver over the winter and send it in and then they will receive a hard card for the whole year. The hard card is nice because it eliminates you from having to stand in a long line at the credentials trailer at each race, and it gives you access to any restricted area. But even though you have signed your life away...you can still sue. I have seen many crewmembers and spectators injured at the track.

Ha. What a crock of sh!t. If you're at a basketball game and Shaq chases a loose ball and dislocates your shoulder you assume the risk. But if you're at a NASCAR race where cars are passing by at 200 MPH and a 3400 lb car made of hundreds of parts bounces off a catch fence you didn't assume any risk because the fence was there:confused: So if the fence wasn't there they wouldn't have a case??? This is asinine, NO fence will keep all debris out. And the back of the tickets clearly say that there's some risk of injury in case some dumbass hasn't figured out that things can go wrong at 200 MPH. No where on the ticket does it say that the fence 100% insures your safety.

A minor injury is one thing, but serious, life alterating injuries are another. These people deserve to be compensated, and no disclaimer is going to change that. Are they supposed to limp thru the rest of their lives because they attended a race and say 'oh well'?

nascar and DIS know this and they'll settle just as they always do. They make a ton of money and buy insurance. If they didn't have the disclaimer warning fans, or a fence, they would be sued out of existence.

No! Think I could be though?:D NASCAR was gonna compensate them either way. I just love how it was worded and that people's first reaction is lawsuit. It was pretty apparent after the incident how NASCAR and their drivers feel about their fans. To not even give them a chance at the matter is in bad taste IMO.
