Greg Zipadelli says while he's keeping all options open, leaning toward putting Newman crew and CC Tony Gibson with Danica Patrick next yr.

David Newton @DNewtonespn
#NASCAR Tony Gibson confirms he and his team have been asked to work w/ @DanicaPatrick in '13. Not sure who'll crew chief for @RyanNewman39.

Bob Pockrass@bobpockrass
Zipadelli said he has talked to people for crew chief for Newman but can't name names. #nascar

Sounds like 'asked' means done deal.

Saw this poor Bastage @Loudon last week, tough way to start the weekend...
It is a good thing that it happened there and not out on the highway. The bottom of a race car hauler is so low that it shouldn't have hurt the trailer much. The biggest problem is getting it up high enough to get the truck back under it. But there is a switch he can flip that will let all the air out of the air bags on the truck and that will drop the rear of the truck about 6 inches. The drivers ego and the asphalt will probably be damaged more then anything.:(

Here's the help, on both sides...

NASCAR relaxes testing policy for next year: For the first time since 2008, NASCAR will allow Sprint Cup organizations to test independently at tracks that host events in NASCAR's top three touring series. Robin Pemberton, NASCAR's vice president of competition said Saturday at Dover International Speedway that each Cup organization -- regardless of how many cars it fields -- will be allowed four tests of its choosing at NASCAR tracks. "It's up to them to pick where they want to go," Pemberton said. "We feel like it's time to open that up and allow the teams to manage their testing and get back on facilities that host our events. You'll see that as the year unfolds, that teams will be moving around the countryside." The four tests allocated to each organization next year are in addition to the Preseason Thunder test to be conducted by NASCAR during the second week of January.(NASCAR Wire Service)(9-29-2012)

I don't like this at all. This should affectively kill all the smaller 1 & 2 car teams and drive the costs way up. A team like Hendricks will be able to test at 16 tracks, while Ganassi just 8. This may lead some teams to also form start & park teams just to get the testing time.

They only get four tests regardless of the number of teams that they have. That's the way I read it anyhow. I don't think that it is four/car.

Yep you're right.....sorry. Still don't like it DP. Just cost on top of cost and really think it's gonna seperate the field more.

I agree if they keep it like this. I say an organization uses 7 post data OR they get to test at Cup tracks. One or the other, but now the big boys will be doing both and the small teams will be screwed.

Taking a look back at the 14 different winners that we've had this year, none of them have come from what I'd think of as a small team. About the only teams that I see this affecting are the ones that S&P anyway. They will still be there doing their thing and maybe the end result of this will simply be better racing. I'm all for that.

True, and start and parks will just show up at the test session an do 3 laps and then eat hotdogs. ;)

I was thinking more from the standpoint of costs, and NASCAR's neurotic decision making process. NASCAR ended testing to control costs. Teams went to multi-million dollar 7 post rigs and hired more engineers. I assumed this new move is to address the smaller teams that can't afford 7 post and are left with nothing. Now they have real testing, but the gap has widened and the costs climbed even higher to be competitive and get a toe hold in nascar.

Hmmmm...............do you think that may be a bit much?

I thought Petty didn't like beer sponsors??? DPK sounds like he's on the Bad Brad train now.
He may not have but I'll tell you what, that has no reflection on me.

Brad train? Now that's making me think a little. Sure, I like Brad but I'd also root for about 9 of the other Chase contenders too. That's probably why I like this sport as much as I do. I win almost every weekend. Earnhardt's my driver of choice but that's no secret. When he wins it's a bonus. Not many bonuses as of late.

It wasn't Richard who had a problem with Beer Sponsors. It was his Mother who said no...

I think my mother originally said no too. :D

DP have you clicked on your own avatar lately, if not try it you'll like it, by the way it wasnt me I'm not smart enough to do be able to do that.
