Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

They might as well close up shop the way they keep screwing up the schedule.
I sure as heck hope this doesn't happen. What are you referring to, the Chase preview show that they had last week or qualifying tonight? Speed is the main channel that I watch leading up to and after the race each week. I'd feel pretty damn short changed without it.

I'm assuming Fox will move much of the programming over to one of their sports channels.

I am talking about every week there are scheduling snaffus and programming conflicts with the speed channel. It's the channel I watch the most on race weekends also but that doesnt make it a professionaly operated enterprise. If it goes away someone will take up the slack and hopefully do a better job but I would prefer that someone take the reins at the speed channel, kick some butt and turn it back into a good product.

LOUDON, N.H. -- Denny Hamlin will be more careful the next time he spouts off on Twitter.

And that's a guarantee.

Hamlin sent out a tweet after a disappointing finish in Chicago last week that was widely seen as a guarantee he would win this Sunday's race in New Hampshire. But he said Friday that the comments -- "This is week 1 of 10. We will win next week." -- were nothing more than his usual confidence in his next race.

More here... http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar/cup/story/_/id/8408219/denny-hamlin-says-win-tweet-guarantee

I hope Hamlin has his spotter watching behind him so he doesn't trip while back tracking ;)

Hamlin back tracked that whole guarantee already. It turned into a statement of confidence on his chances of running good and getting a win. That was BEFORE qualifying.

The JGR cars were fast in 1st practice today and with #48 starting 20th, I'm seriously considering starting Hamlin in the Yahoo League.

However, I won't be surprised if #18 dominates the race.

All 12 chase drivers managed to get inside the top 19 in final practice, FWIW.

Kahne and Kez seem to be having trouble finding some speed. Kasey isn't too good here, but Kez being 17th on the chart isn't a good sign. And the pole sitter, JG, comes in at 15th.

JG's well known for the slow times during practice except for qualifying runs. He says he is adjusting the car for balance and handling and If he gets that right then the speed will be there.

Are you sure you don't have those mixed up?

@StewartHaasRcng & @RCRracing race day crews plane has difficulties starting and will be arriving extremely late to the track...

Kyle Busch is such a jackass on the radio.....oh wait thats not breaking news is it!

Grubb 5, Stewart 3. I'm just saying. ;)

Man, I would have loved to see the Stewart/Grubb duo continue into 2012. I wonder what would have been.

Grubb isn't saying it, but this sure must be satisfying on a personal level. I still remember the look of pain on his face at the awards as Tony talked about their 'friendship' and how hard it was to let him go. Then you find out they didn't just take Grubb off the box, they booted him from the company.

I think Grubb is like Chad, leaders not followers. You just know they're gonna do whatever they can and the others are gonna need sometime to figure out what they're doing. They're the innovators....Addington is more the "hey they're doing this"

Grubb also has all of HMS, SHR and JGR secrets and tricks.

SHR has all that, plus Penske's secrets. Surprisingly, Addington did real good yesterday adjusting on the car. If Tony expects to keep up, that will need to be the norm for the next 8 races.

I still think Tony made the right call getting Steve. How many times last year was the #14 car just god awful and stayed that way all day?

I'm not so sure about what addington knows about the finer points at JGR, some say that JGR is tight lipped with sharing certain things among crews.
