Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

I really look forward to Rusty's comments about his championship experience. I thought he was going to go into a detailed account of his era there for a second.

Thank the lord DW wasn't there. Have you read his race review articles? It's hard to remember what decade your in. 3/4th's of ever article is about him.

Shame JJ isn't clever enough to talk smack and get in Brad's head like Tony did with Carl.

I think Tony could rattle Brad in a minute.

Pit selections should be interesting. If Brad doesn't win the pole, I guarantee the HMS and SHR cars will try to surround him and rattle him the way Newman and Danica did.

I liked Brad's touch with dressing up as if he's at the banquet accepting his award. It made JJ seem a little ordinary.

You'd say that if he showed up in the outfit Nancy wore to Reagan's inauguration :D I'm starting to worry just a little bit about you ;)

Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) confirmed today its current drivers, Marcos Ambrose and Aric Almirola, have re-signed for the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. Ambrose will enter his third season driving for the organization. He will again be behind the wheel of the #9 Ford with partners Stanley and DEWALT. Almirola will begin his second season as the driver of the #43 Ford with primary support from partner Smithfield Foods and its family of brands, Smithfield, Eckrich, Farmland and Gwaltney. In addition, long-time Petty sponsor, STP, will also continue as a primary partner of the #43. RPM previously announced its continuing relationship with Ford Racing and the addition of crew chief Drew Blickensderfer. Also confirmed earlier this season, RPM will continue to field the #43 Pilot/Flying J Ford in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with driver Michael Annett.(RPM), see full PR on #9 Team News & Links page or #43 Team News & Links page,(11-17-2012)

I think I'm actually glad the season is ending. It's been a rough one.
Next year should be a much better year for Jeff . Hopefully the bad luck is behind him and he can get a couple wins.He needs to settle in to a leadership role and benefit more from his experience.

Ahhhh, no. He'll maintain the status quo.

You don't see him changing from brash youngster to wile veteran?

I think that change took place a few years back. I have no problem with Gordon but at 41 his better years are behind him. If Gordon has to depend soley on luck, I'm afraid there's just enough to go around anymore.

Luck is sure missing from a lot of veterans this year . Bodine and Hornaday in trucks , Sadler and Hornish in Nationwide. Gordon , Kyle and Carl in Cup. Sure is going to be interesting next year to see which of these guys are done.

I think your correct there as many of these younger drivers have the talent to quickly be successful in cup and know that they don't have ten years to prove themselves. Some of these older guys had better step it up or make way.

The cars have been fast and Jeff has driven great but pretty much everything that could have possibly gone wrong did go wrong. It's been a draining and frustration filled season for sure. Hopefully the new car fits Jeff's driving style and Alan improves on race strategy.

Joe Gibbs Racing is hoping to re-sign #18-Kyle Busch before the end of the year. Coach Gibbs said Saturday that his company is working on a long-term deal to secure both the M&M's sponsorship and the driver, whose contract runs through 2013. "We're working really hard on that. We want to do that early so we're not going into the last year," Gibbs said. "M&M's is on board, but their contract is still extended into the future. Hopefully, we get everything clarified in the next two weeks. I'm expecting everything to kind of be in place in the next two weeks. That would be a game plan for us if we could. That would be exciting." Monster Energy is expected to join Busch in the Nationwide Series at JGR. Kyle Busch Motorsports will continue to campaign in trucks and perhaps a NNS entry as well.(FoxSports)(11-19-2012)

I have a feeling they may have trouble getting it done the way they want. I wouldn't be surprised if Kyle waits to see how they perform next year, because JGR was horrible this year. There are a few top teams with room in 2014, so testing the waters might be a good idea. Maybe that's why Kyle is working so hard on cleaning up his image.

Brad Keselowski joins Bobby Labonte as the second driver to win championships in both the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series, and he and crew chief Paul Wolfe are now the only driver-crew chief combination to win titles in both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup ranks. Keselowski became only the second driver to claim the title in car No. 2, joining the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr., who won in 1980 driving for Rod Osterlund.

I would like to see him run for the truck championship at some point, maybe after he retires from cup.....if the truck series is still around.
