Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

The V8 Supercar is a purposely built $600,000(US)road course car. It weighs 2987lbs and produces 1780lbs to over 2,000lbs of downforce. The suspension is very high tech and adjustable from the ****pit. It also runs on 11" tires.
And they sound like junk

Wonder if Ricky Stenhouse will be consoling Danica during this difficult time.

It may turn into a soap opera. Danica leaves husband for Ricky, husband wants revenge and has plastic surgery so he looks like Ricky and then kidnaps him. Jr finds out and goes to get Tony to help rescue husband but Tony won't leave Burger King so he has to go alone. Jr has a car crash on the way and develops amnesia.....

He did good. Those appearances are usually tough. Jay Leno did a number on Matt Kenseth after the Daytona 500 by making him do 'Gas prices are so high' jokes.

Gas jokes for a nascar driver? Really Jay? This from a guy who rides in 4 mpg limos and burns thousands of gallons every year in his car collection.

Something from Loudon...
Survey: Loudon residents OK with night racing at speedway, split on casino question

By DAN SEUFERT
Union Leader Correspondent
LOUDON - An unscientific survey of residents shows strong support for the idea of New Hampshire Motor Speedway installing lights and holding night races, though the votes were split on building a casino at the track.

The survey was conducted in September as part of the town's master plan update. It was designed to gather input from residents about potential changes and improvements in town in the coming decade. Several questions were added to the survey by the speedway, as speedway officials wanted to gauge public opinion on night racing, which could alleviate traffic caused by Sunday afternoon races, said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager.

The speedway has no immediate plans to install lights, which would require a $3 million to $5 million investment for the company's parent, Speedway Motorsports, Gappens said. The company already has made that investment at six of its eight tracks across the country, he said.

Gappens has also said the speedway would be an ideal place for the state to place a casino. Proponents of casino gambling in New Hampshire have been trying to pass legislation allowing casinos for years, and there is support for it in the Legislature.

Gov.-elect Maggie Hassan has also voiced support for placing a casino somewhere in the state as a means of collecting revenue and creating jobs.

The survey was conducted via the town's website, and notification mailings were sent to the town's approximately 5,300 residents, said Donna White, the town's administrative assistant.

There were 380 participants in the survey; 343 identified themselves as town residents. The town did not verify whether the survey respondents were actually residents, as it was meant to be an informal, informational survey.

"Anyone could have gone online with a valid email address and taken it," White said of the survey.

Among the questions: "Would you support a Saturday night NHMS race to shorten a race weekend's impact on the area?"

Of those responding, 198, or 58.1 percent, answered "yes," while 121, or 35.5 percent, said "no." Twenty-two said they had no opinion.

To the question, "Should Loudon consider allowing New Hampshire Motor Speedway to build a casino on (its) property if future state legislation permits it?" a total of 181 respondents, or 50.7 percent, answered "yes," while 167, or 46.8 percent, said "no." Nine said they had no opinion.

Gappens said Monday that the survey results will be useful to the track.

"It's encouraging to see an open-mindedness in the town, that's a positive," he said.

Eat your hearts out guys, this upcoming weekend I'll be sitting in the top row, full cooler of BL watching some of the best racing on the planet. This all happens starting tomorrow, 10 minutes from my home on Perdido Key. They let KyBu back in this year with a stern warning after being kicked out twice before for cheating and for cursing track officials and fans.

Snowball Derby this weekend...some notes/links: It has been documented that the Snowball Derby is the Daytona 500 of the short track world. That can also be said for those who run the weekly divisions at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. The Snowball Derby is their big stage and each year the Bombers, Sportsmen, Super Stocks and Modifieds entertain the thousands that migrate to the Pine Forest Road half-mile each year after Thanksgiving.
The 45th Annual Snowball Derby kicks off on Wednesday, November 28th with the Green Flag Party. As the teams unload and begin the tech process, fans from 5pm to 9pm CT can meet the drivers and see the cars that will compete during Snowball Derby weekend. The first on-track activity comes on Thursday, as practice for the Super and Pro Late Models commences. Later that evening, qualifying and feature action for the Five Flags Speedway Bomber and Sportsmen divisions will take place.
On Friday, November 30th, it's WXBM Pole Night, as the top 30 in Snowball Derby qualifying will be locked into Sunday's 300-lap feature. On Saturday, December 1st, it's the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 time trials, last-chance qualifying race. Finally, the 45th Annual Snowball Derby will then go green on Sunday, December 2nd at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL.
Drivers: some notable drivers with NASCAR connections include: Kyle Busch, David Ragan, Landon Cassill, Steve Wallace, Cale Gale, Nelson Piquet, Jr., Johanna Long, Ross Kenseth, Chase Elliott [last years winner], John Hunter Nemechek, Erik Darnell, Mike Garvey, Grant Enfinger, Bubba Pollard and Jeff Fultz.

Sounds great but it would be hard to pass by Florabama without dropping in. Didn't realize Front Row Joe's kid was racing already . I guess that makes every last Nascar driver and crew chief that has a kid racing .

If you are sitting there with a full cooler of BL then you haven't done your job! ;)
DP you know the racing rules, sit down with a full cooler and replenish hourly or as needed. Being a known local with lifetime seats (they let me bring in a small soft sided six pack cooler) has its perks. I have row 22- section D- seats 1234, at the start finish line, reserved for forever.:D

Florabama is a stones throw from my home so its like a local place to us, go there about once a week, I'm getting old, can't hang as much anymore. :D
