I don't think Jeff got the math right about the O'Reilly series. That would mean only 220 thousand watched the race last year.

While "from" is a meaningful and common preposition it is often implied in social media arenas, especially when word count and time is of the essence. Only a true professional reporter who has undergone significant rigorous training is capable of making the proper decision for its implication. :D

can ford stop pretending it cares about anything besides cup omfg
Ford has 5 Trucks in the top 9. Who sells more trucks than anybody else?
They aren't making the Camaro or the Supra in O'Reilly so why dump a bunch of money in that series when you are selling the only car the Mustang?

Seriously, drag him over to Lime Rock, stick him in a GTD car, and let him run for 30-60 minutes. Let him scramble in and out for a couple of driver changes. He won't come close to 75% of race pace, much less Q speed. While they're at it, bring a stock car and let him jack it, run around it with a tire, and lug a full gas can over the wall.

Just another mainstream sports talking head with absolutely no experience of what he's discussing.

Let him talk to MJ or Coach Gibbs or Brad Daugherty or any of the pit crewmen who came from other sports. See what they tell him about driver athleticism.

Better yet, see if Jerry Glanville is available.

Looks like my point was lost, but I'll try again: This is just another example of Smith making stupid comments about sports he knows nothing about. Every time Smith has made a comment on MMA, he's been utterly wrong on an epic scale. This latest comment simply shows he doesn't know much about racing either.

I think if Smith really wants to say something relevant, he should take a week and go to a Bondurant school.

Who cares about Smith. I think he is a clown. Like most of the drivers interviewed I didn't know who he was. Do you think people will flock to his channel or whatever he does now for info about auto racing?

Like most talking heads, his job is to keep an audience tuned in through the commercials. He won't gain anyone by poor-mouthing auto racing, but he'll tighten his connection to that segment of his existing audience that knows even less about it than he does.

Yeah, they deserve each other. His group is harmless unlike many others that I keep an eye on. Now, I think Smith would be great in that two seater midget car they built to give fans a taste of midget racing during the breaks at the Chili Bowl. The driver rolled it a couple of times, blew out right rear tires and spun and they took they even took the mayor of Tulsa for a ride. Great idea they came up with, put Smith in there.
