I hear the software upgrade is gonna be called the Montoya patch.Tesla in Autopilot mode crashes into fire truck
A Tesla Model S crashed into a fire truck while driving down a California highway, according to Culver City, California, firefighters.
A tweet by the local firefighter's union Monday showed a photo of a Tesla Model S with its nose wedged under the back end of a fire truck and its hood badly wrinkled. The car had been traveling at 65 miles an hour, the tweet said.
"The driver reports the vehicle was on Autopilot. Amazingly there were no injuries!" according to the tweet.
In its owner's manual, Tesla (TSLA) repeatedly warns drivers to pay attention to the road while using the semi-autonomous Autopilot system. Tesla classifies Autopilot it as a "driver assistance system" and not "autonomous driving." In other words, the system is only designed to reduce the driver's workload by taking over repetitive and mundane tasks like staying in the lane and avoiding other moving cars.

Personally I love the line about the system is only designed to reduce the driver's workload by taking over repetitive and mundane tasks like staying in the lane and avoiding other moving cars.
Repetitive and mundane tasks like staying in the lane and avoiding other moving cars? That seems like kind of an important part of driving. They may want to upgrade that software a bit and make that a higher priority.
Kind of makes his space program look a lot less credible these days.Hell they can't build a car/truck without multiple call backs, I can only imagine what the future will bring.

Technology is lost with you, crui see e control is awesome on a big long stretch of highway, been using it on all my cars for 30 years. What car company doesn't have recalls?
FTR I am not a fan of these autonomous cars, not at all. Hell I've had cruise control in my cars since the mid 70's and don't use it. It's really useless where I live and I don't use it even on our long distance trips.
Something about feeling the gas pedal move away from my foot to speed up...nah.
Cruise control is also something that I use often. My trips across PA are about 300 on I80. I set cruise control when I get on the interstate and use it the entire way. The only time it shuts off is if I have to stop for gas or I catch up to someone running a little slower that I can't immediately get by. I never use it when I am towing or on wet/snowy roads though.Technology is lost with you, crui see e control is awesome on a big long stretch of highway, been using it on all my cars for 30 years.
Now if you are even remotely familiar with New England you know we don't have many ''big long stretch(es) of highway''. On the few we do there's a multitude of jackwagons that you have to deal with negating the use of cruise control.. It's really useless where I live and I don't use it even on our long distance trips.
.
Yeah, I should have clarified that I only use it on the interstates. Personally, I don't think it makes sense to use it anywhere else.As I said

I never used cc when towing either.
I've never had to call them but I could imagine. There are times when I order things online only to find out that it's via USPS. I cringe every time.I had to call the USPS this morning to check where a package is at, and they said your current wait time is 1 hour 20 minutes.
I jumpedDamn near dropped my coffee cup. Geez.
No wonder these damn cars are so expensive. I wonder what production on this commercial cost?
Was just surfing Youtube for some Jet Boat videos down near Queenstown in the South Island and found this one. I think I want one of these tiny jet boats...looks like fun.
Look at the shallow water here. Jets invented down here by a farmer dude called John Hamilton....this vid shows why...Took a ride in Alaska in a jet boat. Water couldn't have been more than 6 to 8 inches deep. Great fun.
Watched these crazy bastards on TV a while back. The NZ equivalent of mud bogging down South?
Damn. A fricken 14' boat. Whatta catch.Saw this today @Johali not bad for that small boat and by himself. About 2 and a half hours north of me. 146 kilos is about 322 pounds
