Rate the Coke zero 400 race

6. Not really diggin single and double filed carousel running, but that's the draft! We need more finishes like we had last October, minus the huge wreck.

I give it a 7. A few boring points in the race where everyone was single-file, but overall exciting and much better than the 500.

5. I kept waiting for one of the other lurkers to make a run at JJ but it never happened. It seems like Kasey could've made this one alot more interesting if he hadn't gotten knocked out.

I'll give it a 7 as well. It wasn't a boring race, but it lacked a good finish which is what people look forward to most about these tracks. That, and a surprise winner.

8.0 from the stands; of course that means I actually got to watch the race without interruptions from looped KFC ads.

ate the bones, viagra, and cialis over and over, some got Mc Donalds, some kind of french food or drink, and of course commercials in the commercial free part of the race, you didn't miss a thing. I swear, the three in the booth were zombies.

7

Pretty much what we expected.

I missed the first 140 laps due to a DVR malfunction (are you listening, TRL?), so maybe I'm in no position to rate this race.
But, based on the recap during the red flag, looks like I didn't miss much.

Thumbs up for 7 chevys in the top 10, though.
And, my boy, JJ Yeley finishing 14th.

That 48 chevy ain't no joke, man.

Most every race that I get a chance to see is a 10 with the exception of another Jimmie Johnson victory. In those cases I have to subtract 48 from my score leaving me with a rating of -38 for the week. o_O

3! Too dam many cars torn up! In over fifty years of watching races, this one has finally capped it! Guess I'm getting old and grouchy but this cannot and should not be considered, racing. It is dodge'em cars at high speed.
FWIW, this opinion is not based on who did or did not win.

8.5 It was another restrictor plate smash fest, especially near the end, but some exciting moments. I'm an easy grader anyway.

9 And for the record I judge each race for the quality of the entertainment of this race against previous races at this track and not all races at all tracks, to me judging last nights race against Bristols night race or a Martinsville race would be ridiculous, just sayin.

I gotta go with Whizzer, Too many cars torn up at the end. That ain't the way I want to see it. One day every one will figure out that riding around does not help, only prevents you from winning, unless of course you are leading. once they started to put some pressure on the leader caution, caution . that ate up all the last laps. They need about 10 laps or so to get sorted out and run down/pass the leader.

so it gets a 5 from me and I am usually in the 7-10 range.

Well, it was a bit better racing than the 500 in February. It had it's moments, but they were few and far between.
I'll go a 7.

And I agree with Whizzer and BamaFan --- too damn many cars torn up.

Steve Letarte's tweet says it all ---

I have been coming to Daytona long enough that its usually an ok day when u can push the car on the truck without help from a wrecker!!

Johnson managed to block both lines like Stewart tried to do in Talladega. When Ambrose made his move and had he held his position Johnson would have done a Stewart-Dega; Kahne and Ambrose paid the price (2 cars vs. half the field). I noticed the interviews from drivers who crashed didn't blame anyone, just acknowledged they had no control.

Going flat-out all the way around the track isn't racing.

4 - some day Nascar will figure out how to make Daytona and Talladega exciting again, even if it means track reconfig.

I have to admit that there are a lot more fans that liked it then I thought there would be.

I loved it , but then ...I'm a Nascar fan , I love them all ,.... so don't count me in your survey .

The race: 8 (much better than the 500)
The winner: 10
The ending (aside from the winner): 2
Coverage: 6 (wasn't TNT's best work, but it beats ESPN)
Tony Stewart not wrecking JJ like he did 4 years ago: 10000000000 (damn, I'm really shocked, I was sure he would)

The only good thing about plate racing is that you aren't virtually guaranteed a Jimmie Johnson victory and now he's dominating these races as well. :(
