Rate the race: Fontana

6 for the Larson win and the good ending. But that first 170 laps was Indy bad

I feel really sorry for those who watched NASCAR today instead of tuning in to the NCAA tournament this afternoon.

So you enjoyed your basketball games but thought it was a good idea to come on a racing forum in a rate the race thread and tell us how sorry you feel for us. Thank you for that information.

Basketball is the only sport I have 0 interest in, even during March Madness when every person who hasn't watched a college basketball game all season suddenly becomes obsessed and claims to be an expert.

Sorry, just a 6 for me although I'm happy Larson finally won and I'm impressed by Brad's perseverance and what he did to wheel a damaged car to such a high finish..

8...my question, does anybody know when "clean air" became the most important aspect to winning a race? I never remember Tim Richmond saying if only we had some clean air...

You must be kidding! Clean air was not a major factor today, despite Martin Truex whining about it in his post race excuse-making session. Truex was good, but he got his ass beat by a faster guy in a better car once he got it dialed in. I like Martin Truex, but his post race interview was ridiculous.

My rating: 9.5. An awesome race on an awesome race track. So many choices, high, low, middle. Comers and goers on every stint. Strategies galore. The degree of difficulty was enormous, with top quality drivers struggling to keep it out of the fence, and many not succeeding. The most deserving guy won, and my guy overachieved to grab second. This was a great race in just about every way, IMO.
