Rate the race: Martinsville I

I'll go 8. Very good race. Lots of action, rubbing and racing.

Congrats to Brad. Drove a great race.

8 because I had to watch it at X20 speed. Had to mow grass and travel tonight for work so didn't get to enjoy it. Great win for Bad Brad.

I like having six short track races on the schedule, the perfect number IMO. Short tracks are inherently like NFL teams playing a couple games per year in arena football venues... highly entertaining, a completely different expression of racing skills, and ultimately a bit lacking in artistic merit, but making up for that with the change-of-pace fun factor. And this race was a superb example of the best Martinsville can offer, really good racing at the front and throughout the field, all wrapped in authentic Nascar history and tradition.

What's not to love? My rating... 8.5.

Extra credit for Brad K's 23rd win, and for strong runs from so many young drivers. And a big raspberry to KyBu for using up his tires, getting beat like a Martinsville High School snare drum, and then taking a cheap shot at Goodyear for letting that happen. Jeez, so un-classy.

There was lots of racing throughout the field and they raced hard all race long. Many of the usual front runners were distributed throughout the field. And the outside lane was usable. I got a kick out of several references to the Gordon/Bowyer incident during the broadcast when the leaders were racing hard.

I'll go with a 9. The last battle to the end between Brad and Kyle was classic. When you see drivers pass each other back and forth within the same run, you know the race is in their hands. Plus, we saw the high groove maybe not come in as a lane completely, but at least provide an option for those drivers caught on the outside. I think that's why we didn't see all the games and crap on pit road except for with Chase, I like that 2nd wasn't a worse spot than 5th. Can't call it a perfect race though because there were too many useless cautions at the midpoint of the race.

6, end of the stage were entertaining and there was a bit of a second groove. Still not a fan of this track.

9.783 and 22/18ths..

Took a long time to rate, messed up the dvr and just finished the last 150 laps, I missed yesterday.

Good 9.8 race.

best race I seen this year finally the stages made sense but thats IMO. Good racing good conflicts
I would say 9.9 cause I dont think any race can be a 10 unless its a ricky bobby finish haha

Not able to give the race a rating I had a hard time finding the broadcast of the race. I see this as the reason ratings are low. I see MLB and the NFL have a regular spot on the tv networks NA$CAR has always been a look all over the tv dials to find their broadcasts. I don't see NFL or MLB broadcasts on one network for half the season and then on another broadcast network the other half of the season. Instead of spending all the money on rebuilding the grandstands at Daytona that money should have be spent on a NA$CARS own network or at least a regular spot on the tv dials.

I mean.....it is 2017 and there are a ton of ways to find the broadcast in today's era. For instance, the guide on your cable provider, you could search the channels, use your knowledge of what channels hold the NASCAR races and use process of elimination or the search function in the guide. There is Twitter. You can follow the networks, the sport, or anyone involved with it and more than likely find the network carrying the race. The NASCAR website. I don't think we need to elaborate here. Jayski has the race info, this website has the race info on the race day topic, the Google machine, etc. The NASCAR app.

Ultimately, if you cannot find the race, it falls on you. There are more than enough avenues to find out what channel the race is on. If you do not get the channel, I can understand the frustration, but at the same time, if you want to watch the sport, you have to adjust to the channels that it is on. I'm sure everyone would love that it is on the same channel every week, but it isn't, so we deal with it. FS1 is in a lot of homes nationwide, so it is not like they are on some ridiculous premium channel that you have to pay an inordinate amount to get the package from your cable provider.

I mean, FS1 isn't exactly the PAC-12 network.

I'll give it a 10. Can we cancel Texas and race at Martinsville again next weekend, please.:lol2:

That's a load of BS. The races are on either Fox of FS1 for the first half of the season then NBC or NBCSports the rest of the season. If you can long on to this board you can find the damn race. Don't blame NASCAR for your laziness and piss poor attitiude.

What's a load of BS is you telling me I'm lazy. So why is NA$CAR's ratings dropping genius? Do you know the number 1 auto racing series in the US is? It's not NA$CAR. It's not IndyCar. It's drag racing and why is that? It's because you don't have to be a millionaire to go do it, or watch it.

Completely false on all counts.

If someone doesnt have cable you could always barrow a login for the app I use the app to even watch the fox races so they are in full hd on my firestick
also there are other ways to get it but may not be legal soooo.

That's absurd. If NASCAR is making you so miserable it might be time to find something else to do.

I'm old school I don't watch NA$CAR on a cell phone and never, NEVER will I don't have the eyes for it plus I don't own one. I was a watchmaker for 31 years and may end up going back to it. I'm all about analog. I'm an American Pickers kind of guy. I'm also a member of 10 local car clubs who members don't see what the deal is with NA$CAR.

I was at the race, and since the beer was cold, the sausage & peppers sandwiches hot, and the racing great, I will give it a 9.5. Watching the DVR recording that evening I will give an 8: because I was forced to listen to Mike Joy & Darrell Waltrip.
