Rate the Race Texas II

7.17.
Credit Nascar they did all they could to get a complete race in today, it was a small window.

7.5 not too shabby. Pretty fun. Pretty laid back. Glad there wasn't any WWE bull**** like last year.

We also lucked out with the weather really. It took 5 hours to dry the track. Which means we had 8 hours, give or take, of dry weather.

8. Lot of lines, decent number of lead changes, variety of strategies, added drama for rain. Texas is becoming as good as Atlanta. Here's hoping a repave isn't in the near future.

87 gazillion. Five TRD powered Toyotas in the top 5, got the trophy, and picked up 6 pts. in the Manufacturer Standings. Hell yes!

9.5. I'm not really a fan of the winner, but Edwards posted a magnificent drive on a spectacular race track. The bumpy, abrasive, worn-out Texas surface is just about perfect. Cars were hard to drive fast, so the drivers were working hard, sliding around, on the razor's edge. After Darlington, Texas and Atlanta are my very favorite intermediate tracks, and this race showed why. An added plus was the Chase implications at stake.

Clean air was a plus, but not to the point of permitting a slower car to hold off a faster one. Maybe even better with 2017 rules? We shall see.

A solid 7 from me as I enjoyed the race and appreciated that there were no bogus cautions and things were left to play out naturally. The guys were working hard sawing on the wheel all night long and for the most part did a good job of tire management. I was surprised more people were not able to stick around and watch the race live and not surprised Truex snatched defeat from the jaws of victory again.

7.5 - I'm starting to like these night races though at Texas, track is really starting to gain some character.

8 even though it was cut short, the racing looked pretty good. Cars had multiple lines to choose from.

8 just because it ended up a night race or would been a 7
but was fun to watch

Acid is a hell of a trip

7 Nascar has a ways to go yet to make racing for the win a possibility. How many times have we seen a car win based on a pit stop.

Except for close finishes apparently, which we've had some good ones this year. NASCAR can't win.

It was great seeing Carl win and then set sail. I wasn't worried about Truex and his team as more often than not the screw up but I thought JLo may get out in front of everyone.

7 for me. No issues with the winner, how it finished or that Carl won on a good pit stop. I liked the tire wear but it was clear that despite the multiple grooves clean air was still king. Back in the pack the racing was good when they showed it but you could tell when the trailing car got to the leader's bumper they would get loose and have to back off. Most notably truex trying to get by Logano before both had to pit.

I thought NBC did a better than normal job yesterday of showing racing in the pack and when clean air is king and the leader checks out they may as well go to some spot on the track where positions are being contested. IDK how many green flag passes there were for the lead last night but it didn't seem like many.

Null value.

Between the clock change, waking up at my usual time anyway, and the delayed start, I didn't make it to lap 100. Then in my half-asleep condition, I botched setting the DVR to record the rest of it.

I applaud NASCAR for getting it in. Everything else I know about this one, I learned on Racing Forums!

I might have missed some of those passes for the lead. Just wonder how many on the track occurred?
