Just remember Fender..you don't understand them..they don't understand you.Now that you are living in the South you need nuciate it as the back winder (similar to window -o +r).

Isn't the RP on the TB now? It still is physically restricting the oxygen to the engine, no?
Yeah but the tires probably won't be up to optimal temperature, either. I'd say it's probably a wash. Though they could be testing at TMS for a Charlotte stand-in.Why are they testing in the middle of December? The temperatures will be really cold. Everyone knows that cold temperatures = faster speeds. It won't be an accurate test.
Depends on how they implement it. If they just plugged the jets and air bleeds to make the carburetor into a TB, then the idea works (FSAE teams do this to save $$). But if they went to a standard throttle body, it's likely way big. The throttle blades on our throttle body are 2-3/8 as I recall to make 2100CFM bench flow, and it's basically a simplified CNC cut dominator, uses the same manifold bolts.
My answer? Set the ignition timing to zero degrees, and mandate that camshafts have specific parameters for intake and exhaust centerlines. They'll be down to 700 HP in a heartbeat.http://www.sportingnews.com/nascar/...ctronic-fuel-injuection-questions-answers-faq
Why is NASCAR still using restrictor plates where there’s no carburetor?
NASCAR could decrease horsepower by programming the system to reduce the maximum amount of fuel that could be injected into the cylinder or use smaller fuel injectors, but NASCAR believes that could contribute to melting of the current engine parts. NASCAR believes that there’s more parity and more confidence from the teams with restrictor plates, which restricts air flow to decrease horsepower.
Jeff Burton literally led every lap. This idea reminds me of the New Hampshire restrictor plate race that I watched on YouTube a couple of years ago.
I think they're talking about using RP to make the races more exciting, instead of for speed/safety reasons.I personally don't think they go fast enough at Charlotte to warrant a plate but this of course from a man who's only seen a race there from the stands, never been in a car at speed there so I dunno, maybe...

Ask the drivers what they think is best (they are the experts after all)
then do it.
Because the people who dont sit behind the wheel of a racecar know whats best. That's the last thing they should do.
The Trucks put on a good show because you have a bunch of young guys trying to move up racing with a bunch of veterans who just don't give a ****. Helps that the trucks aren't aero-dependant.

That's like the men sitting behind the desk sending our children off to war and telling them how to act
I forgot......

You just beat me to it.
I think NASCAR has made it pretty clear its not up to what the drivers want. The fans control this sport, and the fans will never fully agree.. case and point... who wishes they would just bring the tandem back to the plate tracks? I know I do...Because the people who dont sit behind the wheel of a racecar know whats best.

I dont see there ever being a problem with bringing the cars closer together. Whatever that takes.. if they succeed.. I know I'll enjoy it more.. Make the leader have to race to stay there every lap... if we could see racing like we did in the trucks race at Homestead in ANY cup race.. I'd be satisfied.
Makes sense.. I wouldn't mind seeing the progressive banking be a thing of the past at most tracks either. The problem I could see is everybody will be running wide open and as a result of that, creating big packs of cars at places like Charlotte. We don't have that now because everyone can't race on the edge of being out of control. Slow the cars down and they will all be well inside that line.
I guess nascar thinks the fans want to see "the big one" at the intermediate tracks too.
... It seperates the men from the women(literally).
I like this idea also.I know this idea might sound a little crazy but they should bring back the wings. Instead of putting them on the rear deck lid they should put them on the roof so the drivers can still see through the car in front of them.

This...
Or This...
Could use a different winner lol but I think many fans would rather see the tandem return than to have to suffer through another Snoozefest 500 in february... I'd bet it's many of the same fans that complained about it to the point where they rewrote the rules.
There's an idea.Or maybe just leave them alone

Beat me to it. That Daytona 500 was the Gen 6 first car, of course its gunna either be ridiculously good or boring. Unfortunately it took the latter but they have gotten better since. The best restictor plate races have come in the era when Chevy raced the Lumina and Monte CarloHave you watched the restrictor plate races since the Daytona 500? They've gotten much better. The most recent Talladega race was fantastic with plenty of side by side racing except for the end.
Good job finding the best tandem finish and the worst pack finish, btw. Great indicator of the difference of racing between the two... not.
To me, and I'm no expert, but if the car handles well they go faster and faster. Its much easier to make the cars not handle so well, Raise them, tire compounds, aero ect......But you will also have 2 or 3 that get it right and they will lap the field. I've never been a fan of restrictor plates.
