Amen to that. Leave the track alone.I don't think they are re doing the track itself.
it just a last ditch effort Racing is dying don't cha know?Seems a rather significant investment in a sport that's dying.

Part of the redesign is to be able for fans to get closer to the action in the garages and other events
Race fans will be able to get closer than ever to NASCAR’s best with new Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series garages and a fan viewing walkway providing full immersion into the sport. Fans will also be able to watch race cars complete their runs through inspection stations in the new infield.
In addition to the new garage walkways and inspection viewing areas, other new attractions include expansive Richmond infield social and engagement areas with concessions. Gatorade Victory Lane will now be staged in closer view of the grandstands for fans to have a better experience celebrating with Richmond race winners. The location will provide new fan engagement opportunities for pre-race access, driver appearances, and entertainment programming.

I know.
Just look at The Danica's stats.
that looks sharp, hope they have those escalators like at Daytona.Found a bigger one
They will be driving 5 year old cars soon with band aid patches on the tires. Will the last fan out please close the gate.
It was amazing the rebuilt the track in the short amount of time they did. It will take them over a year just to rebuild the infield.Next year marks the 30 year anniversary of the original Richmond Reimagined. I still remember watching a taped copy (didn't get TBS) of the final fairgrounds race.
This is the way of the future for tracks in that I think instead of the focus on seating, there will be open areas in the infield (or where stands used to be like in the case of Charlotte) where fans can get drinks, food, socialize, or watch drivers/teams work on cars. Pretty much the fan experience will be greater instead of sitting in the stands on a scanner watching the action.
That's what $30 million buys? I expected more. The garage thing is freakin sweet though -
Hahaha, I noticed the HMS logo on the hat but I didn't want to sound crazy. Why does the guy in the Fedex 11 shirt have a Lowes Pro Services logo on his shirt? And a Hendrick logo on the back of his cap. Lol random
Common areas would be great as would more comfortable seating and better restrooms and concessions facilities. I don't expect facilities to upgrade to the level Daytona has especially when the sport is in decline attendance and ratings wise but some kind of investment in fan amenities would be appreciated.Good points and spiffing up the infield is a great idea but ensuring there are common areas where the fans can mingle and watch the race is the most important, IMO. Richmond has a boatload of unsold seats as according to Jayski they used to have 110,000 and are now down to 71K and it looks to me as if 40-45K seats would be plenty at present with around 30-35K needed in the next 5 years or so.

Do they have ISC's line of credit? I wish I had a short track within an hour.I wish short tracks would take notes and make upgrades. Seriously, most haven't made any upgrades, except track repaves, since they opened.

Looks like infield camping is a thing of the past.
