Robin Williams Has Died

There's often a sense of hopelessness, that there's nothing anyone can do.
On the radio, they were saying that it's a shame that Robin Williams felt alone. It's not always a feeling of loneliness that is symptomatic with people that are suffering from depression.
There are many factors that contribute to depression. I believe the causes must be diagnosed on an individual basis.

How depressed some of our young soldiers must be when see their terrible injuries, I dont feel too sorry for depressed actors, they can pay for the best care in the world
He did for Christopher Reeves, paid all the guys health bills. His best friend Jonathan Winters is gone he used to help him keep in control of himself.

I am in no way attacking Robin Williams here, just posting something that I read on a related story that I thought was interesting. In actuality, I have struggled with depression for years and would have committed suicide long ago if it wasn't for what it would do to my kids.

It is not freeing. In suicide you obliterate yourself and shackle your loved ones with guilt and grief. There is no freedom in it. There is no peace. How can I free myself by attempting to annihilate myself? How can I free something by destroying it? Chesterton said, “The man who kills a man, kills a man. The man who kills himself, kills all men; as far as he is concerned he wipes out the world.” Where is the freedom in that?

that quote doesn't make any sense to me. He left a note, might have his reasons in it, so far they haven't thought the note needed to be made public. He struggled with drugs and alcohol, I know that for a fact, and he was back in the spin dry joint recently. He might have relapsed and might have been under the influence, or in the lucid interval called cold turkey. Miserable spot to be in, the bewildered spot. He had a dangerous weapon for a brain, intensely funny, but the other side, the unfunny side, I can only imagine.

It's a terrible loss. I wish he hadn't left the way he did. Let's just remember the joy he brought to the world.
I just hope that others suffering from depression find the care they need to not take the same path Williams took. RIP
