Rule changes for 2020

The more and more they cut back on all these prices the worse the racing and sport gets smh.. I just started watching in 2015-2016 and this is already getting boring and dumb .. the racing sucks now compared to when I started watching not that long ago... that should tell you a lot

2015 was probably one of the worst years of racing ever. You're delusional if you'd want to go back to that.

Better racing in certain years is subjective, cutting costs to keep the sport alive is not.

Here is the reason, it isn't Nascar but the team owners, money also it looks like

WHY NO CHANGES TO THE PACKAGE FOR SHORT TRACKS, ROAD COURSES?

Even if not everyone agrees on the changes to the racing product for intermediate tracks, everyone seems to agree that the high downforce has had a significant negative effect on short tracks and road courses.

The reason NASCAR didn’t order a reduction in downforce for short tracks and road courses for 2020 is the same reason why it didn’t for 2019: team owners.

The team owners did not want to develop two aero packages simultaneously, in addition to two different engine packages.

That sounds like another good argument for banning wind tunnel testing entirely.

I thought '18 was pretty good, myself.

Wind tunnel testing and CFD simulations aren't going anywhere.

Forget the bodies, splitters and spoilers. You can test every possible legal combination of those things in one long day. The action is in the wheelwells and under the car and until race speeds at big tracks are severely reduced, that isn't going to change.

Teams will be developing the 2021 car. Pretty naive to think the teams will let the body maker design it without significant wind tunnel testing. 150 hour limit for the rest of this year apparently is a pretty good cut according to clip on post 38 from what some of the hours the high buck teams were using.

So why dont they allow ford chevy and toyota wind tunnel testing before the season for a week and maybe once again half way thru the season, and thats it? No teams allowed to test in the wind tunnel, just the automakers a couple weeks a year. If thats the goal to even the playing field and save money right?

I don't think Nascar is even close to being able to dictate to the manufacturers.
