Safety at racetracks

It seems that everybody has forgotten Jeff Gordon hitting an opening in the inside wall at Las Vegas in 2008 and knocking his radiator out and some people thought he had to be dead. There are a lot of examples, too many to name. That crash at Las Vegas was the first like it at that track.



Thank god that wall wasn't like the knife edge Mark hit, or he may not have survived.

Look at it again later in the video FB, he hit about 15 or 20' before the end of the turnout which means instead of a glancing blow he hit straight on because the opening was there. At the time there was a bigger dustup about that opening than there is about the recent one but they did have room to work on it and fix the problem though the odds are no one will ever hit it again.
