Sprint Cup @ Phoenix

How about that Gen 6? I told you it wouldn't fix sheet.

The gen 6 is the same chassis as the COT. In other words, the gen 6 is the same dang car that has been raced for several years. The changes to the skin was more a matter of cosmetics to please the fans.

Other than the weight, splitter, side shoulders and spoiler.....it's the same. Do I have to call standonit in here?

you call Big Bumper..Greenhouse..the big freaking greenhouse, along with the shark fin is different also. Freakin chassis is not even close, no more wiggly piggly rear end so they don't dog track like a late model on the straight a ways. We could go into weight transfer and the coefficient of drag differences, but I have bored you to tears already.

I had heard this stat earlier today so I looked it up for myself. In 2012 there were 1995 green flag passes throughout the field for the spring Phoenix race. Changes in position, (all positions), at the start/finish line. This year there were 1213 green flag passes. 782 less passes.

What's your source? I'd love to look at stuff like this for each race.

The results page for each individual race at http://racing-reference.info/ has Loop Data Stats listed at the top of the screen for that given race. Here's the link to the 2013 Subway Fresh Fit 500 results. Above the race title are additional stat associated with the race. Here are the Loop Data Stats for the 2013 Subway Fresh Fit 500. You can sort them by any category that they have listed. You can also easily paste them into Microsoft Excel to get totals which is what I did. There's a lot of interesting stuff about each race located in there.

A bit off the subject, but JR thought he lost a front row start in the pits. If he did a burnout like he did on the restart from the front row, instead of where he was, it wouldn't have been pretty. Hamlin was right behind Johnson, what was he doing? Kesolowski was on Carl's bumper. You boys got caught napping

that's what I saw. It seems if something goes wrong with Jr, he loses focus.

Did we see anybody take a restart from the outside line? Just talking here

If you got to :28, you'll see JJ turn dawn and initiate a little contact to slow Brad down. I really like the way he and Brad are racing each other.

not knocking the guy, but last year, his pit work wasn't that great, he missed his pit more that once, and had to go around, had quite a few speeding penalties, and it seemed he was shooting himself in the foot when he was in the hunt for a win or a high finish. His track driving is usually pretty good, if he had good pits he usually finishes in the top 15 or better. If he concentrates on improving that, he will finish in the top ten or even the top five pretty easy.

You ever notice how Jimmy is really smoooth most of the time when he is blocking. He makes it look like the other guys fault. Unless you can see a shot from the blimp, you can't hardly tell he is changing his line.

Yes, JJ is a bit sneaky, but that's what it's about. He knows other drivers drive off his cars line, and he uses it to get guys to adjust their line more to his liking. That's what made Tony's slight hold down of JJ on exit to make the outside pass at Martinsville so much fun to watch. This move is classic JJ, and some drivers are getting wise to it. I really think his over done jousting with Kurt, and complaints, at Pocono in 2011 exposed JJ to a different attitude from his competitors.

What I REALLY respect about JJ is his willingness to race hard without losing control and just wrecking people. He's still at the top of the heap and could simply 'pull rank' and blame the other guy, something Tony does from time to time. I'm really enjoying this rivalry develop between 2 very cool and skilled drivers. 3 years ago Brad said if you want to win a championship, you need to learn from the best and that's JJ. they race the hell out of each other everywhere on the track from beginning to end. Great stuff.

Thought you were going to make it all the way through a post, but nope. :p

JJ and company are in a tighter box this year it looks like so far. He is a good driver, smooth sneaky, but most of the time Chad has him in a cheated up car. I think it will be better racing this year and JJ and company will have even more competition.

there's a reason Chad said he spent 36 hours straight at the shop this offseason. He's already found something to manipulate on the new car, but it sure hasn't shown a big advantage so far. The media wrote off Brads complaints about the 48's rear end, but I believe NASCAR defining the limits took away Chads chase ace in the hole.

A ace in the hole of the 48's rear end???????

exactly, Brad blew the whistle publicly on what they were all saying about the Hendrick cars last year, but the next week they were all running the twisted up rear end. I was looking at Junior's car for Las Vegas, don't see much of a shark fin, huge spoiler. Oh how they want that car to run sideways and get that spoiler in the wind :) ..Nascar has tucked that thing in.

the shark fin is clear plexi, but it's bigger than before.

It was larger at Daytona. I might be wrong, but Dp posted a pic of Dale Jr's car, not the greatest angle, but I didn't see much of a fin.

my guess is that Chad and his bunch are trying to figure out how to cheat up the rear end, and beat the lazer check.

I saw a picture of the 48 that DB posted. It shows the fin, yeah it is bigger for sure

Thanks! I knew about the site, but never realized it went that in-depth into each race.
