Sprint, T-Mobile merger: Sprint brand will disappear ...

This is very interesting to me. I have Verizon and also have great coverage, except at the race tracks. I bought a Tracfone when I was in Florida earlier this year. I have excellent coverage with the Tracfone almost everywhere I go.

I am back to carrying two phones.

The reason you get such good coverage with Tracfone is because they have a deal with all the major cell companies to use their networks.

Yep, and it works. I ski in the mountains of Vermont and New Hampshire and I never have signal issues while some people with the bigger carriers can't get service.

Faster is not always better (can't believe I'm posting this on a racing forum).

LOL. No. Finally got DSL not too many years ago. Had sattelite before that. But I did live on dial-up when I first moved up here.
Are you going to have a new tv and everything hooked up and ready for the race this weekend?

I'm am 100% connected to the outside world as of 10:30 this morning when I plugged in the computer. TV guys were here yesterday --- turned out the receiver on the dish outside was also fried.

I have a landline along with a cellphone. The call-quality is still far superior to that of my iphone, and I use it for the "important" calls that I have to make while at home.

Its funny you say this because I have Sprint, and the best coverage ive ever had was when I was at Daytona and Homestead, both my home tracks. I think Sprint brings in mobile towers for those events but I always wondered how it effected other carriers.

My iPhone (Verizon) is unusable at Cup races. About an hour before the race, service literally shuts off... can't even send text messages. But I had no problems with it at all during the Late Model race at Martinsville or the K&N race at Richmond.

I used to have Sprint and Nextel before that. Went through three phones with them. Terrible phone service, dropped calls galore and so on. That sad, I was using a Sprint phone a little while ago when attempting to have an irrepairable problem on my iPhone repaired and Sprint worked well in a couple rural areas Verizon didn't but Verizon is still far superior to Sprint.

lol @ your avatar @AndyMarquisLive

Now whenever I see JJ coning for the lead I am gonna hear:

What I would like to see from T-Mobile or any other potential sponsor:

"We would be happy to be your title sponsor and pay you very generous amounts of $ $ $, :) all we ask for in return is no more playoff system."

My Verizon phone works at TMS.No problems at all.:p but I don't have a iphone.

I for one will not be displeased to have this happen. Every time the bright yellow “Sprint” banner comes up at the top of the screen during cup races, it is exactly the same color as the “Caution” banner and for a few seconds always confuses me into thinking that a “Caution” has just been issued. It’s not that big a deal; still, it is a regular annoyance however.

I heard Lowes was going to sponsor the cup and call it the -drum roll please.-"JJ cup"

With what phone?

There are choices at the link Bobby provided, but I use the LG Huawei Glory, Android 4.1. The phone cost $100, and it's your service plan. I put it on a $10 a month 50 minute plan, which the phone triples. 150 minutes talk, 150 texts and 150 MB data for $10. It all rolls over each month, so I end up going off the plan and using what I accrued for a couple of months. It's great not dealing with a contract.
