yeah, I spoke too soon. Hasn't rained here in almost a month and it is dry, should be cooling off but it hasn't. I know what you mean about the trees, I lost quite a few last year, and it isn't looking good. I quit brush hogging last month and where I cut dried up and died. I found out what killed the trees. There is a bug that bores into the trees in late summer and lays eggs every year. Trees can handle it when they are healthy. You can tell if the bugs killed them, the trees will start dying from the top down. Instead of the other way around

carpenter ants. they kill a tree from the bottom up. You can spray those dudes and knock them down, hard to tell, they might be showing up after the tree is weakened or they might have killed them, I had that happen both ways. they say you can't control those borers that I have because they live up in the tops of the trees. You can tell when a tree has the black ants, there will be a pretty good stream going up the tree. They will eat your house too..Blast Em!

how do you kill them? Our massive weeping willow always has ants running up and down the branches, I hate mowing around it.

spray around the ground and lower branches and the trunk, they will track it into the colony. Black ants are actually eating the tree, brown ones are using it for a colony, probably a dead branch hole somewhere. Black ants will make their own hole most of the time and eat out the center of the tree. I just use a cheap one gallon pump up sprayer and ant killer liquid mixture. If you don't have a sprayer and don't want to buy one, you can use seven dust. Messy to work with, but it will work.

TRL, happy water day, I was checking the weather channel and saw it was raining like hell and had been for quite some time in your area and it looked to last awhile, it's supposed to be here tomorrow, we need it but not like you guys do.

I've had somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 inches of rain since this morning. The airport is reporting 6+ inches.
Every drop has been welcome. Most of it has been a moderate, soaking rain rather than a gully washer.
