Suspension Lifted for Kurt Busch - Chase Waiver Granted

The first person to use the term "Outlaw" was Kurt's friend Luke Burrett while they were shooting that documentary. Patricia lobbied to name the documentary "The Outlaw" and was then the one who really pushed "the brand." Kurt was pretty room temperature on the idea - neither loved nor hated it. But Barney Visser (owner of Furniture Row Racing) didn't want anything to do with the term, so it wasn't allowed on the car or any 78 related promo stuff or gear. As you can imagine, that didn't sit well with Patricia, so she worked even harder at getting the name out there in any way available that didn't include Furniture Row (it was hashtagged in just about every tweet she sent out from both her account and KB's account).

SHR was fine with it, so when he went there the name went on just about everything. After the suspension, Kurt asked a lot of his inner circle what we all thought of the name (he was having doubts), and just about all agreed it was time move on. Of course you can't just "lose" a nickname, so I'm sure it's stuck forever. But that doesn't mean you need to actively promote it like has been done the last two seasons.

I never liked it. It doesn't seem real 'catchy' to me. :idunno:

Interesting info. I didn't watch much Nascar last year so I was not aware of the Outlaw name until recently. It makes no sense to me as I don't know how Kurt could be construed as being an outlaw. It is like calling an accountant from New York City "Tex."

Right after he wins in Phoenix they will be saying Brian fixed it. Of course maybe he will. LOLOLOL

Oh yeah. When he wins it will be because Nascar owed him one seeing they denied him a chance to make a living for 3 weeks for no reason lol.

Listened to Kurt on the radio. He seems very focused. Thanks for the info you have posted throughout this situation, Allen

yeah me too. I thought psycho boy, or hand grenade would work better.

Proof he is probably better off without a nickname.

Take all the time you need, we have a Danica thread you can participate in while you think about it ;)

Nice avatar K18. I really hope he gets well and is back to photobombing interviews with crispy m&ms in no time.

Dem Busch Bros can drive! No disputing that!

I chose that avatar because my lower lip has been extended like that ever since Kyles injury

Maybe he can borrow a nickname. Kyle has several he isn't currently using :D

Didn't Kurt qualify for Daytona? If he did, he only missed 2 and that was Nascar's problem.
They changed the rule this year (If I'm correct) to "start" the race, which I guess eliminates those really small teams who miss races but then pull a fast one at Talladega and make the chase. Which has me worried we could see a big name driver miss the race at Talladega again (if you want to call Stenhouse a big name) if they want to keep the flawed qualifying format for plate tracks.

Seems like NASCAR has Kurt's back on this. I know a lot will disagree but they really had their hands tied with how the protective order and hearing went. Either way I think if anything Kurt is in better standing with the NASCAR brass now since he seems to have done everything they asked of him. As far as nicknames, Butt Naked Bandit works but probably just stick to Kurt from now on. More important than racing, Driscoll seems legit insane I feel bad for her kid.

awwww C'mon Greg, he's not that bad.

Did you read the comments at the end? They are almost all for Kurt. wow.

They should be positive as Kurt got hosed out of 3 races and that is unacceptable for someone who did nothing wrong.

Not a chance, Danica threads never die, the detractors will find a way in there ............................. even the ones with no-neck

I hope another DP thread comes around as I had fun saying the same thing over and over again for a few days.

Nascar should be puckering up to Kurt's butt and asking him which cheek he would like kissed first.

I dont know who is that bad Patricia or Kurt and I doubt that few others really know either.

After seeing Driscoll portrayed as a lying female dog many times here at RF, I just dished some back to Kurt demonstrate the absurdity.

I respect you Lisa, and I am glad that Kurt has given you some good , make that great moments. Especially the nice extracurricular type of going above and beyond moments that Alenbaba has helped to set up. That was nothing but a class act on everybodys part.

As respectfully as I can be to you, I just think Kurt struggles with personal demons. And I am just not prepared to put it all on Driscoll.

I am glad that suspension is over There was no longer any grounds to take matters futher imo. I also am glad that they made the decesion not to pursue a trial. Without evidence there should be no legal implications for Kurt.

But that doesnt undo the anger issues that have been repeatedly displayed by him for years prior to the event. He is a disturbed individual imo.
Even more incredulously, one that let Driscoll dominant him, even the nickname is all on her now. There are just to many nonsensical attributes from both sides imo, I just dont know who to believe.

Unfortunately, I cant base my opinion off of inside info from someone who is also invested in Kurt. I dont like admitting that thought, the source seems like a great person, pleasant a great read, and he brings a lot to RF. But still a huge conflict of interest remains, inregards to providing unbiased data. I regret having to make that statement but I would also be less than honest and genuine with an omission.

I am going to let it go at that. I have said enough, maybe to much. I am sure many will continue to call Driscoll the derogatory term. I am not going to try and out shout them.

I just think they are being presumptuous about an unresolvable issue. Only Kurt and Patricia know what happened and most likely thats the way it will always be.

When Kurt has his next great drive and result I at least will be happy for you. I respect your passion and loyalty. But thats the best I can do.
