Are you suggesting that Chevrolet didn't design and release a new engine? Have you ever heard of SB2 intake and heads (implemented years earlier)?

The new engine was being run by some teams today. Not by all though.

Why was the Boss motor outlawed? It was rejected by NASCAR because it wasn't available in a production car. It was "Crate only".

Why was the SOHC motor outlawed? Same as above, hemispherical head engine with chain driven overhead cams, one cam per head. With two 4 barrel carburetors...eh.

Why was the Ford Tunnel-port motor outlawed? meh..

They are a bunch of oportunist that want to take advantange by force. That's what's huh.

What was that about the Tunnel-port?
The reason that the Ford engines were outlawed was that they produced too much HP per cubic inch. The "production" rule was implemented to stop Fords reign of stock car racing in the 60's, it was implemented TO stop the Ford domination. It was Chrysler that squeeked first.
Chevrolet small block engines have a very outdated design. The SB2 intake and head design are based on the Ford Cleveland port design, to allow the Chevy's to be able to flow the same numbers on a flow bench.

Roush has until 2010..that's plenty of time to "kick butt" like you are assuming.

And on that question you got me because i didn't know the answer for..What was that about the Tunnel-port?


And i believe the rule came about because Nascar wanted to give small team a chance. Not just because of Roush.

In the beggining Roush was a small team.

There are only 9 Fords in the field? Why pick on them? Figure it out.

That is a lot of the fun of being a race fan is arguing with other fans. We have a lot of spirited debates around our house. Goes back to the high school years while attending races down at the Volunteer Speedway. LOL
