Talladega Race Thread

I like Keselowski but he sure can be the biggest whiner sometimes. How many times have questionable calls or non-calls helped Kez win races................

Fords were strong all day, but I think Matt was the class of the field. The best car seldom wins a plate crapshoot. Nonetheless, congrats to David Ragan on a well deserved win.

plate racing is the great equalizer of money and talent. congrats to D Regan.

that's what i keep hearing from those behind the microphones, but i just can't buy into that crap. if that was the case, and not pure luck, couldn't nascar sell street stock racing, and the close finishes that would result, at every track they run on?

trust me, i love when the underdog pulling off a huge surprise. but i still don't like this type of racing for the top level.

jmo.

He always annoyed me from time to time, but after all the sheet this year, I'll start rooting for Stenhouse this year. He's making a fool of himslef...again....saying that 34 changed lanes before restart. He's seeing things, because the 34 was on his outside well past the S/F, and the 51 is the car that changed lanes...well after the S/F. I know it was dark, but he needs to shut the hell up until he gets the facts.

Yup. It's bullsh!t racing. It's better than watching golf, but it's a crapshoot. Any one of the cars wrecked in the first big one could have won the thing just as easily. Attrition plays a big part. I'm certainly not trying to take anything away from David Ragan. Free Taco Bell goodies for all Front Row employees!!!

Yeah, agree 100%.

Plate tracks equalize talent... at the lowest common denominator. Hate to be a stereotypical a**hole F1/IndyCar fan , but plate tracks need the minimum amount of driver skill possible. They hold their foot through the firewall the entire way around. You could train a chimpanzee to steer a car around Daytona or Talladega.

Jr. said pretty much the same thing a few years ago. You can't deny that, more often than not, the finishes are pretty damn exciting, though.

It is just the Ford in him talking, he wasnt this whiny last year. Something about a Ford man that commences him to having more issues than a Rosie Odonell-Donald Trump date.
He should be happy at least his rubber band didnt snap like Joeys.
Last year Penske Dodged those problems.

Did you see which manufacturer finished 1-2-3? Where did the first Blowtie finish? :D

Plate tracks have nothing to do with talent. Plate tracks equalize luck more than anything.
I'd say it takes at least a little bit of talent to win at a plate track. Cream eventually rises to the top. Look through the list of winners the past decade or so at Daytona and Talladega and it's pretty much a who's who of the Cup Series.

He never used to whine like this until this year. He sure is wasting that champions voice in the sport he always craved. After his pre-season rant and that over the top whining at texas, I was getting fed up. Now he levels a false accusation of cheating at Ragan and I've heard enough. He needs to shut up and drive for a few months before I'll start rooting for him again. the funny thing is, he'll probably go on a winning streak now. He always raced better when he felt the deck was stacked against him.

It's actually a list of drivers in the best equipment and owners with more teams/cars. If you have more cars in the race you increase your chances of winning. Today the underdog finished on top.

His whining and attitude has always been a problem for me. I've always liked the way he drives but I can't stand him as a person. Logano is the perfect fit to be his teammate.

I am shocked with this statement.

I used to not like Brad. At first it was because he was ****y and squirrely. Later, it was because FB liked him and FB and I had a beef :D Since then, I realized I was being irrational, owned-up and extended the olive branch to FB. Then I saw real driver talent in Brad. He drove his ass off last season and won my respect (Brad, not FB.)
I don't do Facebook, Twitter or any other BS social media. I hope Brad looses his infatuation with social media and focuses on his best talent; driving racecars.
Brad is good for the sport and is part of the future of NASCAR.

why? He didn't whine when Kvapil wrecked him off his first truck win. He didn't whine when Mark Martin wrecked him off his first NW win. He didn't whine when Denny spun him or the 3 times carl tried to kill him. He always gave his honest opinion, but he almost never whined. Provide some examples from youtube if you think you can.

Agree to disagree. Edwards and Kenseth got snookered by Ragan and Gilliland and I loved every second of it.
Um...no. Plate racing is a crapshoot, at best. Matt has led hundreds more laps than any other driver this season and David got lucky. There was no snookering involved.

All I heard was the end with him saying thats all I have to say about that.
So what exactly did he say?
Ryan Newman said:
They can build safer cars; they can build safer walls. They can't get their heads out of their asses far enough to keep the cars on the racetrack. Pretty disappointing. That's no way to end a race. Poor judgment and running in the dark and running in the rain.
