Texas Motor Speedway to be home of world's largest video board

According to TMS's website, the spring Cup race will be on Sunday instead of Saturday night like the past few years due to the Final Four. Booooo.
The Final Four is being played in Dallas that Saturday night. It's probably a good idea, besides it's a 'one time' thing anyhow.

@eddiegossage
We told #NASCAR we would go to Sunday afternoon in Spring 2014 for 1 year only to create ULTIMATE SPORTS WEEKEND. Night racing back 2015.

...good luck getting a room that weekend.
RV my friend, RV. For the NASCAR crowd that is.

You're right though. That's going to be a tough weekend to find a place to stay.

For those of us that like both NCAA basketball and NASCAR it's going to be a weekend in front of the television. Pen me in, pencils are for the indecisive. I'll be watching.

I hear that in order to cut production cost there planning on just shooting the video from the "Big Hoss" a-tron, rather than the track action itself.

If there's only one camera, and it's pointed at the screen, wouldn't it be like watching a bed sheet hanging on a clothes line?

Good morning from the @TXMotorSpeedway break room - home of the world's LARGEST high-definition toaster. #BigToast

No the sheet would blow in the wind which renders screen movement or a dynamic.

The resulting blank screen on big hoss that I keep hearing about from freinds of freinds of friends will have a dynamic for the most learnt among us. The ones that can cut through the bs and see the real big picture, which of course is the cost savings.

They should install those massive HD screens at every large track. Anyone who's sat on the front stretch at Charlotte in recent years knows first hand how awesome it is to be able to see the replays and close-up angles. It's a great enhancement to the overall race experience.

I'll tell ya another place they need a new video screen, the ZMax Dragstrip in Charlotte. I was at the NHRA event there a couple weeks ago & was a little surprised & pissed that the video screen was all the way down towards the end of the grandstands which would've been fine if it had been a little bigger...

Call me whatever but I don't have much use for the big video screens at any sporting event.

If I wanted to watch it on TV I woulda just stayed home.

What makes it nice is that no one will ever force you to look at it. You can ignore the replays and wonder what happened. :)
Somehow I think that if pjmolo is @ the track watching his favorite driver racing hard coming out of turn #4 for the lead and the caution comes out because of a Danica Patrick spin in turn #2, a pi$$ed off pjmolo will be watching that big screen to see the cause of that caution. He may deny it but he'll be watching it along with the rest of us. :D

OK, in that scenario, I admit it.

busted . . .

Houston put one in this year that is bigger than the one in Dallas

Jacksonville's gonna put one in that's bigger than the one in Houston ... because it's so wide, they're actually considering putting a continuous NFL Red Zone feed on at the stadium along side the stadium feed.

Do you guys like the one at Charlotte? I dont.

At least for watching it from your tv I dont. Maybe its the location of it but its just wierd to me.

I'm confused. Watching it from your TV? I think it's there for the people at the track. I haven't been there since they installed the thing but it looks like it would be great for the fans attending.
Agreed.. if the TV at ur house isn't big enough... I duno maybe call Bruton see if he can hook you up. :p

I don't think I want to be in one of those RV's by that big screen when we get some of those storms that seem to blow thru on race weekend.

Nope, not at all. I dont care how big the beams are. And like dad said, what will they do when we have 1" hail every summer? Hope they estab a contract with Safelite :p

Finally a roof for Bristol?

They could make it like a planetarium, and use the whole roof as a giant video display!

Magneti Marrelli can only afford so much....

Personally I think Bruton simply like to hear the words 'World's Largest' associated with his name. Nothing wrong with that if you can afford it.
